Overview of Position:
Plans, provides and/or supervises the nursing care of patients in an efficient and caring manner. Coordinates care planning with other caregivers and with other areas, adheres to universal precautions, and is compliant with infection control policies. Works independently with minimal supervision.
Essential Duties:
- Provides direct patient care in accordance with physician orders in a warm and friendly manner.
- Assist with patient transport to and from the Cath/EP Lab.
- Fulfills duties of circulating nurse or recorder through all phases of procedure.
- Takes and records measurements or readings.
- Assesses condition and provides treatment for care of patient.
- Administers prescribed medications.
- Provides leadership while working collaboratively with other care givers on the unit.
- Participates in educating and informing patients and families.
- Participates in quality assurance/quality control activities as required.
- Supports procedures and patients in both the Cath and EP Labs. Including structural heart procedures.
- Performs other functions/duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Completion of an accredited nursing program (ADN or BSN) and current Ohio RN License.
- CPR certification within 30 days of employment.
- ACLS certification within 6 months of employment.
- Ability to read, write and explain or describe moderately complex information to other hospital staff.
- Excellent interpersonal, decision-making, facilitation, conflict resolution skills.
- Ability to communicate well in an oral and written manner, as well as the ability to observe, assess, guide, and evaluate others.
- Ability to read, calculate and prepare medication, as well as the ability to observe and analyze any resulting reactions and to apply clinical knowledge.
- Ability to collect data, interpret findings, set priorities and carry out established plan.
- Demonstrates competence in age-specific patient care as documented by the attached checklist.
- Ability to focus on multiple tasks simultaneously and work independently and under pressure in a complex and changing working environment.
- Ability to assume "call status" after hours and respond within the mandatory response time for the department as required.
