Position Description

Immediately hiring a Permanent Full Time Senior Level Diesel Technician to support our Truck Fleet at Ryder in Zanesville, Ohio.

Video/Entry Level Technician

Compensation & Benefits
  • Hourly Pay: $31.50 per hour
  • Certification Bonus: $100 for each new ASE Certification obtained, up to $700
  • Quarterly Bonus: up to $500 every quarter (four times per year)
  • Sign On Bonus: $1,250 at 30 days and $1,250 at 90 days
  • Schedule:

    Monday–Friday;
    Weekends OFF
  • Hours:

    Second Shift 2:30 pm – 11:00 pm

Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Vocational or technical certification or post‑secondary degree or technical certifications preferred
  • Basic tools required
  • Demonstrated aptitude and applied experience in mechanical repair of automotive gas or diesel engines including routine preventative maintenance (oil changes, brake and tire work)
  • Basic diagnostics and repairs, including AC and electrical systems
  • Three (3) years or more relevant work experience preferred
  • All other certification as required by location, required
  • Valid Commercial Driver License (CDL) Class A preferred
  • Must have a minimum of 2 years of experience with mechanical repairs and diagnostics on heavy‑duty and medium‑duty equipment
  • Knowledge of and ability to apply computer skills: PC, Windows, mouse, etc.
  • Must be able to obtain a CDL within 6 months after hire
  • Pass a Ryder drug test
  • Pass a DOT physical
  • Pass a Ryder road test
  • Pass a Ryder background and motor‑vehicle check, including drug and alcohol verification from previous employers for the last 3 years
Responsibilities
  • Perform vehicle maintenance and repair duties, including standard and preventive maintenance
  • Diagnose complex mechanical and electronic problems using diagnostic computers when applicable
  • Complete complex and detailed mechanical inspections and repairs with minimal supervision
  • Replace defective components as instructed
  • Work unsupervised on most tasks
  • Perform facility maintenance duties
  • Interact with customers/drivers to determine nature of complaints once assigned a task
  • Utilize key functions of the Shop Management System and electronic documentation
  • Work in accordance with all federal, provincial, and corporate compliance guidelines (safety, DOT, MOT)
  • Act as a mentor for Tech 1 and Tech 2 levels
  • Demonstrate the ability to access and use internal and external maintenance documents
  • Perform other support duties as required, such as Service Island support
  • Complete SBTIII training within 180 days (SBT
    220)
  • Complete two of the OEM online diagnostic scan tool software courses required by location fleet mix within 365 days
