Gudenkauf is a diversified telecommunications, utility, and systems integration solution provider with the personnel, equipment, expertise, and experience to deliver even in the toughest and most complex conditions. We provide outside plant construction, fiber optic splicing and testing, utility locating, intelligent transportation systems, gas line cathodic protection, and emergency restoration services across Ohio, West Virginia, Kentucky, Indiana, Michigan, Virginia, and Pennsylvania.

As a Laborer, you will support construction crews by performing manual labor tasks and assisting with underground utility and telecommunications construction activities. You will help maintain job site safety, prepare materials, assist equipment operators, and ensure projects are completed efficiently. In this role, your customers are Congruex field construction teams and clients, and you will contribute to company success through safe operations, teamwork, and quality project support.

• Attend and participate in daily jobsite safety meetings and huddles
• Operate tamping machines and assist with inspection and maintenance of equipment
• Assist with loading, unloading, and organizing jobsite materials and tools
• Support trench excavation, conduit placement, potholing, shoring, and back filling procedures
• Assist with setting structures, pouring concrete, and asphalt preparation/placement
• Maintain clean and organized job sites and ensure compliance with customer requirements
• Additional responsibilities within functional scope based on business needs

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Valid driver’s license required
• Ability to pass pre‑employment drug screening and MVR

• Basic knowledge of construction industry preferred; training provided
• Experience in underground utility or telecommunications construction is a plus

• Ability to follow instructions and work effectively within a crew environment
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills
• Understanding of safety procedures and policies
• Ability to perform physically demanding tasks in varying weather conditions
• Strong manual dexterity and hand‑eye coordination
• Reliable transportation to various jobsites

• Previous experience in underground utility construction
• CDL driver’s license
• Experience operating small equipment and hand tools

• Ability to lift and carry up to 75 lbs.
• Ability to perform manual labor for extended periods
• Work performed outdoors in all weather conditions
• Ability to stand, bend, kneel, squat, and perform repetitive physical tasks
• Must have adequate vision or use corrective lenses for safe work performance
