Middle School Assistant Principal
The Middle School Assistant Principal will assist in the areas of leadership, supervision, and administration resulting in the educational development of each student. Responsibilities include assisting the school principal in the resolution of discipline problems in a fair and just manner and maintaining records of any action taken. Provide documentation and recommendation to the principal regarding the suspension and expulsion of students.
The principal and superintendent make the final decision regarding the long-term suspension and/or expulsion of any student. Work with faculty in a cooperative manner to develop rules and regulations to effect positive student behavior in the school. Work with the principal and faculty to develop, maintain and distribute student handbooks and the like. Assist in developing and carrying out policies and supervising practices dealing with campus control, safety and supervision.
Participate in the student assistance program and coordinate school and community resources for students at risk as determined by the principal. Research matters of discipline and welfare by conferring with parents, teachers, counselors, support service personnel and students, and make recommendations to the principal. Oversee all matters of student attendance and make recommendations to the principal for resolution of chronic attendance problems.
Assist in the dissemination of information regarding school and district programs, policies and procedures to students, parents, staff and community. Participate in the coordination, implementation and supervision of the extra-curricular program of the school. Assist with the supervisory responsibility for student activities, programs of student orientation and similar activities. Visit classrooms, observe and evaluate teachers. Must provide for the completion of all written evaluation requirements of the current Master Agreement and Teacher Tenure Act.
Qualifications:
Must meet State of Michigan requirements for administrative certification. Must demonstrate leadership, team building skills, and the ability to work with others. Must have the ability to meet deadlines, prioritize and work independently.
