Laser Weld Engineer | Zeeland, MI
Salary Range: $80,000 - $120,000 depending on experience

The Opportunity
We are collaborating with manufacturing firms in Zeeland that are seeking skilled Laser Weld Engineers. These organizations are dedicated to maintaining high standards and are looking for professionals who can contribute effectively. Key Responsibilities
- Develop and optimize laser welding processes for new and existing products.
- Design and implement laser weld tooling and fixtures.
- Troubleshoot laser welding equipment and process issues.
- Conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective actions for weld defects.
- Collaborate with design and manufacturing teams to ensure weldability and manufacturability.
- Perform process capability studies and statistical analysis to ensure process control.
- Develop and maintain detailed process documentation, including work instructions and control plans.
- Train production personnel on laser welding techniques and procedures.
- Bachelor's degree in Welding Engineering, Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
- 3+ years of experience in laser welding processes within a manufacturing environment.
- Proven expertise in laser welding equipment, including setup, programming, and maintenance.
- Strong understanding of material science, metallurgy, and their impact on weld quality for various alloys.
- Experience with weld quality inspection techniques, including destructive and non-destructive testing.
- Ability to analyze weld defects, troubleshoot process issues, and implement corrective actions.
- Experience with fiber laser welding systems.
- Familiarity with Six Sigma or Lean manufacturing principles.
- Knowledge of metallography and material characterization techniques.
- Ability to program and troubleshoot robotic welding cells.
