Overview

The primary responsibility is to assist in converting functional requirements of Herman Miller products into a technical design concept and structure using rules within an object‑oriented configuration system.

Responsibilities
  • Apply configuration standards that result in accurate, timely and easily understood models.
  • Assist in technical design required to convert engineering and manufacturing requirements for product configuration into rules within an object‑oriented configuration system.
  • Construct and maintain models using rules in an object‑oriented configuration system.
  • Coordinate activities with related product database functions.
  • Support the New Product Commercialization process, working with various departments and product development teams to implement rule changes on new and existing products.
  • Manage medium‑scale modeling projects.
  • Collaborate with marketing, engineering and manufacturing to structure configuration models of Herman Miller product offerings and related information.
  • Perform additional responsibilities as requested.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related technical field (Computer Science or Engineering) or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience as an associate configuration modeler or equivalent.
  • Experience with rules and object‑oriented configuration systems.
  • Clear understanding of engineering data and documentation requirements in an engineering and manufacturing environment.
  • Knowledge of blueprints, item masters, bill of materials, routings and marketing databases.
  • Understanding of Engineering Change Management systems and manufacturing systems.
  • Well‑developed conceptual, analytical and communication skills.
  • Resourceful problem‑solving ability.

Compensation and Benefits
  • Compensation range: $70,400.00 – $88,000.00, plus potential geographic premium, annual discretionary incentive and equity awards.
