Quality Inspector - Zeeland Area
Location:
Zeeland, MI
Salary Range: $52,000 - $79,000 depending on experience
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct visual and dimensional inspections of raw materials, in-process components, and finished products.
- Utilize precision measurement tools such as calipers, micrometers, and gauges to verify product specifications.
- Document inspection results accurately and maintain detailed records of quality data.
- Identify and report non-conforming materials or products, initiating corrective action procedures as needed.
- Collaborate with production teams to address quality issues and implement preventive measures.
- Perform first-article inspections and in-process checks to ensure adherence to quality standards throughout manufacturing.
- Assist in the development and improvement of quality control procedures and work instructions.
Recommended Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- 2+ years experience in quality inspection within a manufacturing environment
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints, schematics, and technical documents
- Familiarity with precision measurement tools (e.g., calipers, micrometers, CMM)
- Strong understanding of GD&T principles
- Ability to perform visual inspections and identify defects
Bonus Qualifications
- Experience with metrology equipment (CMM, optical comparators, etc.)
- ASQ certifications (e.g., CQI, CQT)
- Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies
- Ability to interpret and apply Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T)
- Basic understanding of statistical process control (SPC)
