Discover a rewarding opportunity to inspire early learners as a Reading Specialist within a vibrant K-2 library setting. Working on-site, you’ll collaborate with educators and students from August 17 through May 27, 2027, providing essential library media and tailored learning support to help every child thrive.

Qualifications & Skills
  • Bachelor’s degree in Education or a closely related field
  • Illinois Professional Educator License with pertinent endorsements
  • Strong foundation in curriculum design and effective instructional strategies
  • Demonstrated written and verbal communication proficiency
  • Experience working with young learners in a school setting preferred
  • Genuine enthusiasm for promoting reading, literacy, and lifelong learning
Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver targeted reading and literacy interventions tailored to K-2 students
  • Manage and organize the library media center, maintaining an inviting and resource-rich environment
  • Collaborate closely with teaching staff to design and implement effective reading programs
  • Offer individualized support to students, helping them develop key literacy and research skills
  • Act as a resource for parents, teachers, and staff, sharing best practices for early reading development
  • Facilitate engaging story time, reading groups, and library research activities

This full-time, on-site position is ideal for those who value hands-on involvement in a school community, love working with young children, and have a heart for establishing the foundational skills for lifelong learning.
