Contract Type: Travel Contract

Shift Type: 3x8 Day shifts, 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM (Days) — three 8-hour daytime shifts per week; no weekends, no on-call, no float

Hours per Week: 40

Candidate Pay Rate: $70 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities
  • Assess, diagnose, and treat cognitive, language, speech and voice disorders in adult/head & neck oncology patients
  • Perform bedside swallow evaluations and manage dysphagia using evidence-based approaches
  • Conduct and interpret Modified Barium Swallow (MBS) studies and integrate findings into care plans
  • Provide specialized tracheostomy and laryngectomy care, including immediate post-op management when needed
  • Document thoroughly and efficiently in EPIC using point-of-service documentation and re-assessments
  • Educate patients and families on diagnoses, safe swallowing strategies, and post-surgical care plans
  • Collaborate with PT, respiratory therapy and the interdisciplinary team to optimize patient outcomes
  • Maintain patient safety practices and screen for signs of physical, sexual, or psychological abuse
Qualifications
  • State Speech-Language Pathology license in-hand (required)
  • BLS (AHA) certification required (AHA classroom; Heart Code not accepted)
  • Minimum 2 years clinical SLP experience required; 5 years preferred
  • Experience with dysarthria, dysphagia, bedside swallow evaluation, and MBS (conducting & interpreting)
  • Experience with tracheostomy and laryngectomy care and adult oncology populations preferred
  • Comfortable with EPIC documentation and point-of-service charting
  • Willingness to complete the orientation block and jump into a hybrid inpatient/outpatient role
Knowledge & Skills
  • Expertise in dysphagia management and swallowing exams (Bedside, MBS; FEES preferred)
  • Strong voice and resonance assessment and treatment skills
  • Skilled in cognitive and language assessment and rehabilitation for adults
  • Familiarity with international dysphagia diet modifications and diet order recommendations
  • Ability to use assessment tools like BAE and WAB (preferred)
  • Knowledge of documentation, SLP evaluation coding, and Medicare/Medicaid billing basics (preferred)
  • Comfortable educating patients/families and working within interdisciplinary teams
