Reports to: Library Director
Schedule: 21 hours per week;
Schedule is flexible, but requires evenings and weekends as needed to support and capture library programs, events and outreach endeavors.
Wage: The salary range for this position is $20,507.76 to $30,182.88 annually or ($18.78 to $27.64per hour), depending on qualification sand in accordance with internal equity.
Jobs Supervised: None –may train and oversee department volunteers; may assist in supervising support functions for shift
Job Summary: Responsible for managing andcoordinatingthelibrary's marketing and influencing campaigns underthe supervision of the Library Director, with latitude for independent judgment and decision making. Coordinates with other public services staff in thedesign and implementation of the library'scommunitypresence,social mediacontentand marketing. The person in this position is a team player that has a passion for libraries,marketing,popular media,technology, and the people who use them.
The Marketing Assistantkeeps abreastoftechnologytrends and enjoys connecting with others who share those interests.
Nature and Scope of Position
The Zion-Benton Public Library is looking for a creative and energetic Marketing Assistant. Join our engaged, enthusiastic staff as we start a renovation project, showcase our resources, and spread library love far and wide. The person in this position is a team player that has a passion for libraries, marketing, popular media, technology, and the people who use them. Please be prepared to show a portfolio of your work.
- Oversees content strategy and maintenance for the library's website and social media accounts.
- Proficient in graphic design software.
- Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff and public.
Duties and Responsibilities
:
- Collaborates withlibrary staff from all departments, especially graphic artistto plan,manage, coordinate,write,designconcept,proofread, and editalllibrary publications, includingflyers,postersandpromotional/outreach materials
- Responsible fortimely,accuratepublication of the monthly, weekly, and special editionenewsletters;
Zion Quarterly Submissions (City and Township); bi-monthlymailer;other messaging as needed. - Responsible forthe voice,content and direction ofsocial media, includingresponses to reviews, communitycommentsand webpage.
- Collaborates with library staff from all departments to create andmaintainaconsistent, professional, and welcoming environment for library users in person and online,including the Librarycatalog
- Designs and analyzes surveys for library users and community feedback
- Uses statistics, census, and other data to better understand theneeds andwants of different segments of the community to better inform service sand marketing of services
- Coordinates with library staff in the creation and lookof the library’s social media content and marketing, and other online tools
- Generates content and responds tolibrary social media accounts
- Creates andmaintainsa workflow for library staff to review, approve andfinalizemarketing efforts using the Library’swritten style-guide
- Works with graphic artistindesigning,maintaining and sharing the library’s style guide
- Mayassistcommunity partners with marketing expertise
- Promotes the library district through outreach and by usingbestmarketingpractices
- Analyzes statistical reportsconsistentlyto capture usage and interaction sin a timely manner
- Participates in staff, department, and other professional (system, consortium, and community) meetings related to job responsibilities, as relevant
- Active participant in the library programming team,maintains awareness of and promotes library programs, including the calendar of events
- Uses design thinking principles to test concepts and ideas
- Identifiescommunityeventsandcoordinates library message for the event
- Perform other duties as assigned.
