Registered Nurse, ICU Nights

Position Summary

Registered Nurse – ICU Nights at City of Hope. Provide acute care for critically ill medical and surgical adolescent/adult patients in the ICU during night shifts (7:00p.m. – 7:00a.m.).

• Assess, plan, implement, evaluate and document the care of critically ill medical and surgical patients.
• Provide acute care per protocol and assist with special procedures.
• Direct care delivered by patient care partners and other healthcare team members.
• Collaborate with physicians to evaluate patient readiness for changes in level of care.
• Care for medical/surgical and telemetry patients as necessary.
• Recover MAC local patients when PACU is not open.
• Interpret and operate cardiac and other invasive and non‑invasive monitors, recognize rhythms and trends, and institute appropriate interventions.
• Care for patients with complex needs, including hemodynamically compromised and mechanically ventilated patients.
• Initiate and maintain complex IV therapy, including thrombolytic administration, vasoactive medications, central IV catheters, dialysis catheters, and arterial lines.
• Use less invasive, life‑support modalities such as BiPAP, ETCO₂, arterial pressure–based CO/CI & SVO₂ monitoring, and core temperature monitoring safely.

• Critical Care / Telemetry experience.
• Current Illinois RN license.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certified through the American Heart Association.
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certified through the American Heart Association.
• OCN certification within 18 months of hire or, over a 36‑month cycle, 36 total CE in oncology, with completion of 12 CE each year (Surgical Services exempt).

Eligible for a $20,000 sign‑on bonus.

Salary is based on work experience, qualifications, and work location.
