- Work 4‑9 hour shifts, 8:00 a.m.–5:30 p.m.
- Initiate, monitor, and complete intravenous or intramuscular therapies, including chemotherapy, immunotherapy, blood products, pre‑meds, and hydration.
- Care for patients with IV lines, central lines, and ports.
- Administer and monitor blood products safely.
- Demonstrate competence in chemotherapy administration through ONS.
- Assess and recognize normal and abnormal responses to treatments and institute appropriate interventions.
- Assess and intervene in life‑threatening situations.
- Administer medications via all routes using the six rights, medication bar scanner, and monitoring patients for side effects.
- Demonstrate knowledge of chemotherapeutic agents and medications.
- 1 year of inpatient hospital experience as an RN.
- Graduate of an NLNAC or CCNE accredited school of Nursing.
- State of Illinois Registered Nurse license.
- Basic Life Support certification upon hire and maintained while employed.
- ONS Fundamentals of Chemotherapy and Immunotherapy Administration Course certification within 6–12 weeks of hire.
- OCN Certification when eligible or 12 continuing education credits annually (36 CE total over 3 years) for the Oncology Commission Cancer cycle.
