We are looking for a Financial Controller with Tax experience to take ownership of our accounting and financial control function for the full MRI Group. In this position you will safeguard the accuracy and integrity of our financial reporting, ensure compliance with applicable standards and regulations, and provide management with the reliable figures and insights needed to steer the business. In addition, this role carries responsibility for all direct and indirect taxes across the Group.
This is a key role within our finance team, offering the opportunity to combine hands‑on accounting and tax work with leadership of the accounting and tax team.
Your Core Responsibilities- Manage and oversee the day‑to‑day accounting operations across all traded products – such as concentrates, metals and energy – and ensure that deals, contracts, hedges etc. are correctly captured and reported.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements in accordance with IFRS and the Swiss Code of Obligations (OR).
- Own the month‑end and year‑end closing processes including Group consolidation, and ensure timely and accurate reporting to management, the shareholder and external stakeholders such as banks.
- Prepare budgets, forecasts and variance analyses and support management with financial planning.
- Ensure compliance with corporate income tax, transfer pricing, VAT and other tax matters, including statutory and tax‑related reporting obligations, in cooperation with the MRI Tax Manager.
- Lead the global accounting team and the Tax Manager, and act as functional lead for finance and tax personnel across the Group subsidiaries.
- Monitor cash flow, liquidity, and working capital in cooperation with the trade finance team.
- Oversee the financial and tax related data and processes within the whole Group including companies handled in Switzerland.
- Develop, document, monitor and continuously improve internal controls, processes and accounting policies.
- Support management with ad hoc analyses, projects, business cases and decision‑making.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders across departments, subsidiaries and the shareholder, as well as external partners (auditors, banks, tax advisors).
- Degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics or a related field; a relevant qualification (e.g. Specialist with Federal diploma in accounting and finance, Expert in Accounting and Controlling, CPA, ACCA) is an advantage.
- Several years of experience in accounting or financial controlling, ideally in commodity trading industry.
- You bring solid knowledge of accounting standards (IFRS / Swiss CO) and tax/VAT regulations.
- You are a confident user of ERP and accounting systems with strong Excel, MS Word and Outlook skills.
- You are analytical, precise and reliable with a hands‑on and solution‑oriented mindset and good communication skills.
- You have a strong sense of ownership, integrity, are a team player and have discretion in handling confidential information.
- You are fluent in English (company language) and German, additional languages are a plus.
