This is a regulated role under the Central Bank of Ireland’s Fitness and Probity regime.

• Developing and structuring tailor‑made solutions by considering the Construction Underwriting strategy and Underwriting policy to win new business and retain existing customers in the area of building construction works, green and renewable projects, oil/gas/chemical installations, power generation through to open‑cut mining.
• Proactively foster positive relationships with clients to get mutual understanding of their needs.
• Advise, assist and service clients on insurance and risk management matters to ensure client satisfaction and respond to client and AXA XL queries in a timely manner.
• Assess the risk technically, evaluate appropriate risk premium by considering the risk costs inherent to the Construction Sector, reinsurance cessions as well as the underwriting and general administration costs to ensure profitability.
• Initiate opportunities for cross‑selling.
• Ensure proper hand‑over for timely implementation of new and renewed accounts according to AXA XL's quality standards (including policy, invoice and endorsement issuance).
• Possibly develop the skills, knowledge and competencies of less experienced colleagues.
• Develop best practice and share underwriting knowledge within the team.

You will report to the Underwriting Construction Manager.

• A completed degree in a technical or economic field, or a comparable qualification.
• Several years of professional experience in underwriting in the construction and/or engineering sector with strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
• Fundamental knowledge of global construction underwriting; experience with large accounts is advantageous.
• Ability to develop and maintain relationships with international clients and business partners and excellent marketing, presentation and negotiation skills.
• Excellent analytical and conceptual skills, efficient and able to work independently by structuring the path forward.
• Driven and solutions‑oriented personality, excelling in fast‑paced, dynamic, and energetic settings, with strong team collaboration skills.
• Willingness to travel frequently and flexibility to accommodate travel requirements.
• Excellent communication skills in English, German and further language skills are a plus.
• Very good knowledge of the Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel and PowerPoint).
