Overview
The Zurich Global Employee Benefits Solutions team helps multinational companies find financing solutions for their global employee benefit plans. We offer multicultural pooling, captive services and innovative underwriting programs, providing a holistic approach to risk management and financing solutions. We are looking for a motivated and commercially minded Senior Captive Underwriter to join our dynamic, international environment. The role can be based in Zurich or London.
Whatyou will do
- Contribute to the request‑for‑proposal process, bringing technical expertise to the ZGEBS proposals.
- Support the implementation of newly acquired captives, setting up reinsurance programs, including agreement wording and credit‑risk matters.
- Provide professional underwriting support for onboarding and renewal of cases fronted through the ZGEBS network, ensuring profitability targets are met.
- Use a disciplined approach to risk assessment for new and renewal business in your own portfolio.
- Promote ZGEBS captive expertise externally by presenting in finalist sessions, engaging with captive customers and speaking at professional conferences.
- Help develop and enhance the ZGEBS captive proposition by aligning market needs with Zurich objectives.
- Evaluate captive protection needs and formulate offers that align with ZGEBS profitability and risk appetite.
- Provide wider underwriting support to the ZGEBS team, deputising for other underwriters when necessary.
- 6‑8 years of practical experience underwriting employee benefit schemes for Life and/or Health business.
- Degree in mathematics, finance or a related field.
- Ability to quickly grasp new technical information and analyse pricing data sets.
- Strong analytical and technical skills with a high degree of accuracy.
- Exceptional problem‑solving and decision‑making abilities.
- Team player who enjoys a dynamic, multicultural organisation.
- Proficient in MS Office applications (Word, PowerPoint, Excel).
- Excellent communication skills, comfortable presenting technical topics to a wide range of stakeholders.
- Experience setting up reinsurance agreements and knowledge of reinsurance covers is an advantage.
