** Senior Catastrophe Modeling Analyst
** in our
** Europe Property Catastrophe Modeling
** team.
Our team in Zurich is an international team of analysts in charge of pricing all catastrophe business underwritten in our Zurich office. This includes Property lines focusing on Europe incl. the London Market as well as support for relevant Specialty lines (such as Marine & Energy) with a global mandate.

* ** What you’ll be doing:
*** Support the reinsurance team with catastrophe peril analytics through preparation of data and analysis through third-party vendor and proprietary natural hazard models and pricing tools
* Assist the Risk Management function in the timely collection and reporting of catastrophe exposures; this includes probabilistic losses, disaster scenarios as well as modelled and non-modelled losses
* Collaborate closely with the catastrophe modelling, underwriting and actuarial teams
* Collate and synthesize relevant information following potentially loss causing events, including but not limited to independent event reports, model vendor bulletins, industry loss estimates and Sompo exposure.
* Support the team on other ad hoc projects as needed, with a strong focus on: + research into scientific and engineering issues relevant to catastrophe risk + the evaluation of catastrophe models, including model sensitivity testing and the determination of model calibration parameters + ad hoc projects to refine our catastrophe tools and modelling procedures
** What you’ll bring:
*** University degree in Climatology, Computer Science, Engineering, Geology, Mathematics, Statistics or related field
* At least 7 years of experience within the insurance and reinsurance industry
* A high degree of computer literacy required, preferably with knowledge of a scripting language such as R, Python or SQL
* Strong working knowledge of industry-wide catstrophe modelling software and the application of catastrophe model output in the pricing of reinsurance contracts and portfolio management.
* Model validation experience and the ability to identify and communicate the differential impact of model changes on client portfolios
* Strong communication, analytical and presentation skills, with fluency in English
* Strong time management skills, with the ability to produce results in an efficient and timely fashion, manage increased workflow during busy periods and additional ad hoc requests
