What you'll do- Trade and price securities loan and borrow, negotiate fees, transaction size, collateral and tenor with banks, prime brokers and institutional investors
- Secure borrow to cover short positions, trading strategies and settlement requirements, including scarce or hard-to-borrow securities
- Allocate available securities efficiently to optimize inventory utilisation and identify opportunities to earn lending revenue or reduce borrowing costs
- Monitor daily profit and loss, positions, fee changes and counter party exposures
- Manage loan recalls, returns and renewals; anticipate changes in availability and mitigate settlement failures
- Assess collateral eligibility, haircuts, margin requirements and the funding implications of transactions
- Monitor corporate actions, evaluate the impact of dividends, coupons, rights issues, takeovers and other events on loaned securities and their economics
- Develop counter party relationships, maintain strong access to securities supply and demand, negotiate competitive terms and diversify sources of borrow
- Coordinate across teams, work with Treasury, Trading, Structuring, Risk, Legal and Operations to execute and maintain transactions
- Identify opportunities to improve trading, operations and controls through data, quantitative analysis and automation, working closely with Technology and Developers to implement practical solutions
- Build effective working relationships with Operations
- Product Control, Risk and other support functions to ensure smooth daily processes and identify opportunities to improve efficiency and reduce operational risk
- Maintain compliance, operate within trading mandates, credit limits, market rules and contractual requirements
- University degree in Finance, Economics, Mathematics or a related discipline
- Minimum 3 - 5 years of relevant professional experience, with experience in Securities Lending, Securities Finance, Repo or Derivatives Trading
- Demonstrated ability to actively trade and identify revenue opportunities while maintaining a disciplined approach to risk
- Thorough understanding of equity and fixed-income settlement mechanics, including settlement cycles, market conventions, settlement risk and buy-in procedures
- Strong analytical skills and the ability to interpret market trends, company fundamentals, corporate actions and other factors that can impact trading opportunities and risk
- Experience working with counter parties and internal stakeholders, with strong communication, relationship management and negotiation skills
- Intellectual curiosity and a strong interest in financial markets, with an appetite for continuous learning
- Ability to manage multiple priorities, work independently and meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced trading environment
- Familiarity with legal documentation: GMSLA, GMRA, ISDA
- Strong attention to detail, with a structured and logical approach to risk, P&L and problem solving
- Advanced Excel skills and proficiency in one or more of SQL, Python, VBA or Business Objects
- A strong work ethic, positive attitude and high level of energy, drive and self-motivation
- A collaborative team player who is also comfortable taking ownership and working autonomously in a dynamic and constantly changing environment
