Partner & Head of FinTech

Position: Partner & Head of Fintech

Partner & Head of Fintech is responsible for building and leading the firm’s fintech legal practice, advising clients on the full spectrum of legal, regulatory, and transactional matters related to financial innovation.

• Provide strategic legal guidance on the regulation of the fintech sector, including compliance with Swiss and international financial market laws
• Support clients in securing regulatory approvals and licenses from FINMA and other global authorities such as CSSF, MFSA, FMA, CIMA, and Ba Fin
• Counsel on payment transactions law, including PSD2 compliance, e-money regulations, and digital payment infrastructure
• Advise on crowdfunding and crowd investing models, tokenization of financial instruments, and investor protection rules
• Ensure client compliance with AML/KYC frameworks and assist in building robust governance structures and internal controls
• Provide expert legal support on blockchain technology, crypto assets, token offerings, and DeFi models, including regulatory classification and licensing
• Advise on data protection and data security, including GDPR, revised FADP, and sector-specific cybersecurity requirements
• Draft, review, and negotiate fintech-sector contracts, including partnership and joint venture agreements, technology and license agreements, investment and financing agreements
• Cultivate and expand long‑term client relationships through high‑quality service and proactive engagement
• Develop business development strategies, contribute to thought leadership (e.g. articles, webinars, events), and represent the firm at industry conferences
• Mentor and supervise junior lawyers and associates, promoting professional development and knowledge sharing
• Ensure compliance with internal quality standards, billing targets, and operational goals

Education

• Swiss bar admission and first‑class qualification
• Excellent academic credentials in law (Master’s degree / PhD)
• Additional studies in business law or financial law

Professional experience

• 10 + years of proven work experience as a lawyer, preferably in a Partner role in a law firm, auditing firm, or senior level in‑house legal department of bank or asset management companies

Languages

• Stylistically confident, appropriate English and German
• Additional languages (e.g. French, Italian) are an asset
