Maeer's MIT Institute of Design, Pune:
Maeer's MIT Institute of Design in Loni-Kalbhor, Pune (220km from Mumbai), western India, is a design school offering graduate and post graduate diploma programs from Graphic Design, Film and Video Design to Product Design. We also offer undergraduate & graduate degree programmes in Animation & Computer Arts for Gaming in collaboration with University of Dundee, Scotland. Our courses include a training and placement internship cell where students enter various industries, organizations and communities.

Designers have penetrated into almost every sector of the economy at various levels and platforms. Designers today work with industries not only at the grass root level but also at the systems planning, business development, and strategy mapping levels. Designers work as teams in industries or support them as consultants from outside.

Philosophy:
Education at MIT Institute of Design has been thought in a very broad manner to belong to three domains.

- The first is the domain of skill. These are those design skills and design tools that should help students communicate convincingly the outcome of every stage of the design process. For this, they will learn to employ all necessary media and materials. If one has to look for a concept from the Indian philosophy that has an equivalence with this domain, that would be the concept of Sadhan.

- The second is the domain of knowledge. It pertains the knowledge base the students must acquire from subject areas of varying nature. From this base, should flow meticulously gathered and researched information needed during the entire problem solving process. Again, an equivalent concept from the Indian philosophy to represent this domain would be Sadhana.

- It is the third domain of formation that becomes the vital core of the design process. The total and composite learning from this domain is meant to make students think laterally and innovatively, develop, design concepts and translate the concept into a tangible form which in fact is the very solution of the stated problem of design. The equivalent concept from the Indian philosophy obviously, is Sadhya.

What is design?
A good designer should be a good artist, a good technocrat, a logical thinker, a practical person who can correlate technology with innovativeness at reasonable cost. A designer should deliver the goods to the society in most economical way and in certain time frame. Design education across the world reflects a diverse spectrum of economic, regional and social dynamics. Several great traditions in design education continue to reflect regional aspirations while at the same time striving to make them a part of the modern world.

Location:
Maeer's MIT Institute of Design is located on the famous Rajbaug farms spread over a vast area of 125 acres on the beautiful banks of the Mula-Mutha river at Loni-Kalbhor, Pune, western India. This place was a resting place for the showman of Indian Cinema - Late Raj Kapoor, who found high solace here and had wished that the land be used for social or educational purpose only.
