Summer Music Courses in Europe - Advanced Levels

Language and Music for Life, Summer Camps in Europe:
Our summer courses in 2026 will take place in North Yorkshire, England. We very much hope to organise a course in Florence / Italy or in another mainland Europe country in 2027. Further details will be published in August 2026 or earlier if possible. International Summer Music Program in Europe / Italy:
- A specialised course by world renowned faculty for Advanced Level students, amateurs, professionals. 
- 2 weeks for adults & youth (aged 16+).
- with Optional Language Classes

All students must be at an advanced level in at least one discipline; other class choices can be at lower level. One-on-one tuition is available for many subjects.

LMFL also welcomes younger students proficient in at least one instrument, as long as they are accompanied by a parent or guardian.

Parents of our younger students may also take language classes, participate in the choir, or participate in the music classes if they are good level amateurs.

Instrument & Voice Tuition:
Taught by exceptional teachers and internationally known performers, we offer voice training and tuition in Cello, Harp, Violin, Viola, Double Bass, Electric Bass, Guitar (Classical & Jazz), Clarinet, Flute, Oboe, Saxophone, Bassoon, Brass Trumpet, Trombone, French Horn, Tuba, Classical Piano, Jazz Piano, Percussion, Drums (Jazz & Pop).

We prepare young instrumentalists for the entrance audition for the Higher Musical Schools (Royal Academy, Royal College of Music, Guildhall, or Conservatoires Supérieurs de Musique etc).

Master-Classes:
Taught by renowned professors and leading artists, these instrumental (in saxophone) are generally designed for the advanced student or professional musician who wish to undertake intensive study. Entry to these prestigious classes is limited and students are selected. The classes are open to observers registered in our course.

Music Tuition for already-constituted Chamber Music Groups:
• In summer in Florence, Italy, we are offering group tuition for already constituted chamber music groups – duets, trios or quartets – with a either one or two hours of tuition per day with a choice of tutor(s) from our renowned faculty.

Music Composition:
This course comprises an individual 1-hour lesson every two days, and a seminar in English every other day.

The objective of the one-to-one lessons is to create a new composition during the course, which will be performed at the final concert. The content of these lessons depends on the level of the students.

Participants will study diverse composition techniques according to their aesthetic preferences, from traditional tonal harmony to more elaborate musical expression. In addition, they will learn about musical scripting software, with a focus on using Sibelius notation software. 

Summer School Choir:
The Choir is one of the main features of the Summer School and most people attending will want to take part. Membership is open to all without audition.

Opera Workshop:
• An operatic pastiche (from baroque to jazz) with arias, songs and scenes from the various operas. Please contact us for further, up-to-date details.

Voices required:
Sopranos (both light and lyric), mezzos or contraltos, tenors, baritones, jazz singers (both males and female voices).

(Participant applications can only be processed after we have received a video recording with an address link).

Language Classes for Non-Native Speakers:
We offer English-speaking students the opportunity to learn or improve their Italian, French, or Spanish. We also offer English as Foreign Language (EFL) courses for non-English speakers.

Our language classes are conducted by specialist teachers, all of whom are native speakers. They can be taken in small groups (4-6 students) or one to one, according to the student's precise needs.

LMFL also offers an annual music summer camp in the UK - with one-to-one training in a wide range of instruments & voice tuition to enthusiastic musicians of all levels & ages (children aged 5+ years old, teenagers & adults).
