Foothills Montessori School, located in the Green Valley area of Henderson, Nevada, is a private Montessori School offering Preschool through 8th grade programs. Foothills Montessori School was founded on four pillars: academic excellence, universal values, global understanding, and service. Beginning in 1999 with just eighteen students, we have blossomed into a tightly knit community of approximately 320 students and 43 faculty members.
From before the time of Aristotle, the famous teacher and orator who walked the streets of Greece trailed by his students in 300 B.C., great teachers have reached their students in the same powerful ways -through providing them with a feast of knowledge and information, exposing them to as much direct experience as possible, and by inspiring and expecting their best individual efforts.

Foothills Montessori School was founded to provide children ages three through thirteen with an exceptional private school that reaches the whole child, providing an educational environment that is at once nurturing, respectful, challenging, and inspiring. Our program is based on the time-tested, well-balanced principles of the Montessori method of education.
The Montessori Method:
The Montessori method is the fastest growing education system in the world. It was originally developed by Dr. Maria Montessori, the first woman doctor in Italy who made great progress in the fields of psychiatry and pediatrics and was nominated for the Nobel Prize. Maria believed that every child has an innate curiosity and love for learning which takes them on a “journey of discovery” in the classroom. Each child is permitted to pursue what interests them in a supportive and caring environment. This freedom develops their independence and confidence, which fosters not only academic development but emotional and spiritual as well. Our HKA Curriculum runs for 12 months starting with the first week of school. The year is broken down as follows: from September to June, all students attend weekly classes and will perform once in the fall and again in June.
Situated in Minden NV (Douglas County), 20 minutes south of Carson City, Little Discoveries Early Learning Center is a family owned and operated daycare facility with a 4-5 year old Pre-K program. Licensed by the State Of Nevada, we offer full and part time care for children ages 6 weeks through 6 years.
Little Discoveries has been operating since September of 2015 and has quickly become one of Douglas County's most popular preschools and has been nominated for the Carson Valley's finest in their first year of business.
In just under a year, Little Discoveries has gained more than sixty clients mostly through word of mouth referral. Although they boast a modern facility that is conveniently located on US HWY 395 N, it is their caring staff that is the key to their success.
