Foothills Montessori School, located in the Green Valley area of Henderson, Nevada, is a private Montessori School offering Preschool through 8th grade programs. Foothills Montessori School was founded on four pillars: academic excellence, universal values, global understanding, and service. Beginning in 1999 with just eighteen students, we have blossomed into a tightly knit community of approximately 320 students and 43 faculty members.
From before the time of Aristotle, the famous teacher and orator who walked the streets of Greece trailed by his students in 300 B.C., great teachers have reached their students in the same powerful ways -through providing them with a feast of knowledge and information, exposing them to as much direct experience as possible, and by inspiring and expecting their best individual efforts.
Mission Statement:
Foothills Montessori School was founded to provide children ages three through thirteen with an exceptional private school that reaches the whole child, providing an educational environment that is at once nurturing, respectful, challenging, and inspiring. Our program is based on the time-tested, well-balanced principles of the Montessori method of education.
The Montessori Method:
The Montessori method is the fastest growing education system in the world. It was originally developed by Dr. Maria Montessori, the first woman doctor in Italy who made great progress in the fields of psychiatry and pediatrics and was nominated for the Nobel Prize. Maria believed that every child has an innate curiosity and love for learning which takes them on a “journey of discovery” in the classroom. Each child is permitted to pursue what interests them in a supportive and caring environment. This freedom develops their independence and confidence, which fosters not only academic development but emotional and spiritual as well. A Montessori education produces children who are self-sufficient, environmentally-conscious, spiritually balanced, globally aware, and respectful of self and others.

Our HKA Curriculum runs for 12 months starting with the first week of school. The year is broken down as follows: from September to June, all students attend weekly classes and will perform once in the fall and again in June.
