Education Programs (TK-12):

We provide a classical education with a Christian-based atmosphere where students and teachers can work together in the classroom. Our school uniquely offers students many different classes and programs.

Curriculum:
The core curriculum emphasizes the development of critical thinking, writing and public speaking skills, and focuses upon the interrelationship of history, literature, natural science, mathematics, classical and modern foreign languages (K-12), fine arts, religious studies, the linguistic arts of grammar, logic and rhetoric, and physical education.

College preparation begins in Kindergarten. The curriculum and whole-school scopes and sequences are developed by our faculty, with upper school specialists working with lower school teachers in selecting the best curricular materials available to support each individual area of instruction, in keeping with our overall mission as a Christian classical school.

Lower School Academics:
Trinity Academy of Raleigh's lower school is where exceptional instruction and learning are taking place every day. The educational journey towards developing the whole child equipped with the tools needed to be successful for life begins in the lower school. From Transitional Kindergarten through to 6th Grade, our students are engaged in learning experiences and opportunities that are distinctive to Trinity Academy's mission and classical education model of instruction.

Through our rigorous academic curriculum, our lower school students quickly establish foundations in reading, math, and rhetoric in the early grades. Humanities are a focal point in the lower school and components of our Humanities curriculum are researched based and designed with an understanding of the way children learn. The curriculum supports our goal of developing in students' strong skills in phonics, reading, comprehension, and writing.

In addition to a strong academic program, lower school students also participate in weekly "special" classes of art, music, and physical education. Chapel and Assembly times are faith and community building opportunities for our students. Parents are invited and welcome to worship with their child during any lower or upper school Chapel session.

Upper School Academics:
The upper school at Trinity Academy of Raleigh is devoted to fulfilling its role as one of the leading college preparatory programs in the area. In addition to the core subjects in the humanities, mathematics, science, and classical and modern languages, classical liberal arts at Trinity exposes students to courses in logic, rhetoric, religious studies, studio art, drama, and choral music. These courses are not “add-ons,” they are integral components of our curriculum and a well-rounded education.  We realize the importance of producing graduates that know and value the linguistic and fine arts.

While the classical liberal arts, as practiced at Trinity, imposes a rigorous and varied curriculum on students, Trinity’s upper school is also about friendships and fun, and growing up in an environment that permits freedoms within certain structure and guidelines. Trinity’s relatively small student population also ensures that faculty and staff know the student body well. Neither student academic or social well being is left to chance. We have an active student life program that helps students to build and sustain relationships with their peers and teachers that are both supportive and enjoyable.

Trinity’s thirty-eight acre campus, combined with a strong athletic program, assures that all students can enjoy active outdoor activities when not in class. Athletics and arts are integral components of a classical education, and all Trinity students participate in one of each during each academic year. As Trinity has grown, the number of its interscholastic teams also has grown, providing increased competitive opportunities for greater number of students in a greater number of sports.

Arts Program:
Trinity’s fabulous visual arts program is ably led by Ms. Holly Gillon, a graduate of Campbell University with a Bachelor of Arts in Graphic Design and Studio Art. At Trinity, Holly has focused on building an art program that teaches students to see as an artist sees and to learn to visualize the three-dimensional world around them and accurately reproduce it on a two-dimensional surface. In an effort to encourage students to strive for excellence and to challenge themselves, she instituted an AP Studio Art course after attending an intensive training session in Houston, Texas in 2005. Most importantly, Holly intends to help her students develop a passion for truth, goodness and beauty through the production of their own artwork as well as the examination of the works of God, the master creator from whom all inspiration and creativity comes.

The goal of the visual arts curriculum at Trinity Academy is to engage the student in a variety of exercises and projects that will cultivate a deeper appreciation for art and develop skills and techniques for producing quality artwork resulting in a passion for truth, goodness and beauty. During the course of the school-year, we will be concentrating on four main objectives.

Athletic Program:
Trinity’s athletic program is “curricular.” We believe that involvement in team sports provides a formative experience for our students that is central to the education we offer, building character, confidence and esprit de corps. The field and court serve as “laboratories,” reinforcing Christian world-and-life-view development. Together, our players, coaches and parents learn how serious competition and Christ-like humility combine to instill godly virtues and develop important life skills.

College Guidance Program:
Trinity provides an outstanding and comprehensive college guidance program that helps prepare students and their families for college and life. Our Office of College Guidance offers the most current college resources and individual counseling for every Trinity family. 100% of Trinity graduates have been accepted to college. More than 70 colleges and universities, including numerous highly prestigious institutions, have accepted Trinity graduates, and recent graduating classes have received hundreds of thousands of dollars in combined merit scholarships from colleges and universities.

Finally, Trinity graduates possess strong and comprehensive life skills. A Trinity education ensures all its students benefit from quality college preparatory curriculum and develop the skills to maintain positive relationships with peers and teachers that can last a lifetime.
