Student Testimonials / Reviews: • Nina - University of the Arts London, Central Saint Martins "As a whole, the London Art Portfolio course was an extremely good experience for me. The atmosphere was very creative, free and friendly.
Julia Dennis had a great way of helping me to organise my work for my portfolio, and most importantly, to make me understand what I want my work to be like.
I learned a lot about presentation, experimenting with different mediums and the overall requirements of a portfolio. As I have progressed to my Foundation course and my BA, these skills have come in handy on many occasions.
When I first started the London Art Portfolio course, I had just finished high school and had very little idea of my future studies.
Working with Julia helped me secure a place on a Foundation Course at London College of Communication, and later on a place on BA Womenswear at Central Saint Martins.
I would recommend London Art Portfolio to anyone looking to build up a portfolio and wishing to develop their creativity!"
• Aleksandra Rogowska - University of the Arts London, Central Saint Martins "I tried working individually on my portfolio for CSM (yes I was aiming high) but quickly ground to a halt. I opted for the 4 week preparation of the portfolio course at LAP where I met Julia. This proved to be one of my best decisions.
The class was small (max. 6 people) and felt more like 1:1 than a class. Julia was very attentive and the atmosphere supportive.
Julia structured the class around thames, but worked with each student separately recognizing the individual style and helping us to develop some new techniques and broaden our knowledge about some significant artists and artist movement.
She gave us space to work on the portfolio to find our way, but was there in the blink of an eye whenever we encounter problems.
Julia has tons of experience and knows exactly what the examiners are paying attention too. When the course finished I took advantage of 1:1 to structure the portfolio and craft the motivational letter which is very important especially in the case of career change like myself.
The effect - admission to CSM graphic design after the 1st attempt! (I also got into Ravensbourne and City and Guilds London Art School). Now I'm looking forward to the learning ahead and hope to take on a full time job as GD.”
• Simona Stoyanova - Istituto Marangoni, BA Degree in Fashion Design "Straight after graduating high school I started working in the fashion industry and that is what I have been doing for the past three years.
Several months ago, however, I felt that I wanted a career change, from professional modelling, and I decided that I would pursue my dreams of gong to Art College.
At first I was uncertain of my own abilities and I lacked confidence. That is why I decided to seek the expertise of Julia. She made me feel comfortable from the very beginning and starting from our first 1:1 tutorial I began to develop my drawing skills.
She made sure that throughout our time together we explored different mediums, techniques and approaches.
We visited museums, explored different artists, made thorough research on various topics and never stopped seeking inspiration. That is why my learning process was enjoyable, diverse and educational.
After three months of hard work at the studio and consistent follow-up on my independent study at home I now have a completed portfolio of work and feel much more confident in my own skills.
I feel prepared for my interviews and cannot express my gratitude to Julia for her support, guidance and encouragement throughout the sensitive process of career change."
• Amy Hetherington - Otis College of Art and Design, LA, MA Degree in Fine Art "Thanks so much for your help Julia! Our sessions gave me that step up that I really needed to get my portfolio and statement together in the nick of time!
The focus, encouragement and ideas that came out of sessions together were invaluable."
