Groove Academy - School of Music:
Located close to Downtown in Winnipeg MB, Groove Academy provides that "next step" that students need before continuing their musical education at a college or university level. We provide professional music instruction for recreational and / or career minded students in a range of musical disciplines including guitar, piano, drums, bass, woodwinds, musical performance, and more. Many of our former students have gone on to study nationally, internationally and globally.

Professional Music Instruction in Winnipeg:
Within each area of study, our courses can cover a variety of musical styles, electronics/programing, singer songwriter techniques, sequencing, midi, and basic recording.

Performance Preparation Courses:
We provide many performance opportunities for all of our students, including competitions, workshops, festivals, masterclasses and more.

Guitar:
From acoustic to electric, classical to heavy metal, our focus is to have students develop good technique, and the ability to read and create music.

Our classes not only encompass the study of our past and present players, but the musicians that changed guitar playing and that were pivotal in the development of the guitar and it’s sound to the present day. 

Our courses cover studies in a variety of styles of music, rhythm playing, soloing, singer songwriter, electronics, basic recording and more.

Bass Guitar:
As many schools have a guitar teacher teaching bass, Groove Academy is proud to have an instructor that specializes in Bass guitar and who has dedicated his life to studying the Bass.

Students will be taught bass slapping technique, finger picking, rock riffs and learning the blues form. We offer regular performance opportunities, along with clinics and workshops throughout the year. Please contact us with any questions.

Piano:
Our piano courses offer studies in classical music, contemporary music and Jazz. Integrated studies could also include studies in keyboard programing, sequencing, midi, basic recording and composing.

Drums & Percussion:
Our Drum & Percussion programs encompass the fundamentals that are necessary to become a well rounded musician, drummer and or percussionist. 

Groove Academy offers strong courses, and programs aimed to aid students in meeting their goals by establishing strong foundations to build on. We offer instruction in drum set, hand percussion and orchestral percussion.

Orchestral Percussion:
Our orchestral percussion program offers professional studies in:

- Mallets, 2 and 4 mallet studies. (marimba, vibes, xylophone, and bells). 
- Timpani
- Snare drum (rudimental and orchestral)
- Auxiliary & hand percussion

Groove Academy also offers free use of our practice rooms for our percussionists, when available.
