Emergency Care Programs is the largest prehospital emergency medical training company in New York City. Established in the early 1980s, we provide effective and practical Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) and paramedic training classes to students living in Brooklyn, The Bronx, Queens, NYC and the entire tri-state area. Our programs have trained well over 20,000 people in emergency medical services & techniques. You can attend classes at our training centers throughout Brooklyn, The Bronx and Manhattan, or we can offer courses on-site at your location.

EMT / Paramedic Training Programs:

Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) Training Program
Course Duration: Each of our courses involves 180 hours of training. Depending on the course schedule you select, attendance requirements may vary from 41 to 45 sessions, and the total duration of the course may be anywhere from 3 to 5 months.

Offered throughout the NYC area, including Brooklyn, Manhattan, and The Bronx, our EMT training program includes a mixture of practical and lecture-based instruction. Students will be required to demonstrate competence in practical skills as well as on written examinations. In addition, each student will complete a 12-hour rotation in a hospital emergency room. Students who successfully complete all course requirements will take the NYS EMT-B Certification exams. Classes are offered on an ongoing basis, with varying schedules to accommodate our large student population.

At the conclusion of the course, the EMT Basic will have demonstrated competency in:
- Patient assessment
- Managing medical emergencies
- Trauma care
- CPR
- Utilizing Basic Life Support equipment
- Fracture and spinal stabilization
- Hemorrhage control
- Emergency childbirth
- Managing environmental emergencies
- Use of a semi-automatic defibrillator

EMT-B Refresher Program:
The EMT-B refresher course allows New York City-area Emergency Medical Technicians to renew their certification. The course is designed to help the EMT refresh previously learned material and learn the latest and most updated information on protocol changes and policy. If your certification expires within 9 months, you should enroll in a refresher course immediately. Classes are offered on an ongoing basis, to accommodate our large student population.

At the beginning of the program, students take a "challenge" exam to determine what material they need to review. Based on the results, we develop a customized schedule for each student which indicates which sessions the student will be required to attend. Students who successfully complete all course requirements will take the NYS EMT-B Certification exams to renew their certification.

Automated External Defibrillator (AED) Training Program
We work with your company to train staff in CPR and defibrillation techniques. Courses can be adapted to meet the specific needs of your workplace, including health care, security, transportation, entertainment, sports, corporate employees and the lay public. We will help you to develop an Emergency Action Plan for your company's emergency response needs

- Using the Emergency Medical Services (EMS) system
- Using an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) & CPR Skills Performance
- Responding to cardiac and respiratory emergencies in adults
- Identifying and controlling risk factors for cardiovascular disease
