- BA in Art History Degree:
Given our University’s location at the geographical and temporal crossroads of Europe and the Mediterranean, the program places a strong emphasis upon the visual cultures of Rome and of Italy.

The program also emphasizes art-historical theories and analytic methods with a strong focus on the visual arts of Europe, the Mediterranean and North America.

While this major emphasizes the study of ancient Roman culture and society, the range of courses is designed to provide a solid foundation in classical civilization as a whole, from Greek and Roman literature to ancient history, philosophy, religion, mythology, archaeology, art, and architecture.

- BA in English Literature Degree:
This major emphasizes the historical and cultural understanding of the development of literature in English from the Anglo-Saxon period all the way up to the 21st century.

Our mission is to provide an educational experience that is both firmly rooted in the American tradition of the liberal arts, and solidly international in orientation.

- BA in History Degree:
This degree is designed to provide the intellectual breadth and the analytical skills that allow students to make meaningful connections between the past and the present.

The core program focuses on the national and regional histories of the United States, Italy, Europe, and the Mediterranean, while a course on the history of globalization introduces students to the tools needed to understand cross-cultural and interregional interactions.

- BA in Humanistic Studies Degree:
This program provides a synthetic introduction to the extraordinarily rich traditions of the liberal arts within and beyond Western civilization.

It offers a wide range of choices in the Humanities to students who wish to pursue a focused program of study that encourages inquiry into the human condition beyond the confines of a single discipline.

This program takes special advantage of the unique access JCU students have to the cultural, aesthetic, philosophical, and historical legacy of Rome and the Mediterranean.

- BA in Italian Studies Degree:
This program is an interdisciplinary degree that combines the study of literature, history, art, and culture while developing students’ fluency in Italian language.

Because of its interdisciplinary nature, the Italian Studies major is particularly suitable to be combined with other majors such as Communications, Art History, and Humanistic Studies.

We also offer 2-year Associate of Arts (AA) degrees in all of the above subjects.
