Welcome to MediaTech Institute, a place for anyone looking for a creative career in the entertainment business. We have campuses in Houston, Dallas, Austin, Texas and Oceanside, California. We offer a comprehensive Recording Arts Program designed to help each student develop the skills to realize their dream to work in the Audio Industry. Training is provided in audio engineering and studio techniques, mixing and mastering, post production audio and more. Our philosophy is to provide each student access to industry standard facilities and equipment. That is why each program provides extensive hands-on experience on a wide range of equipment currently being used by working professionals. The MediaTech School of Music offers group lessons in guitar, keyboards, bass and drums.
Recording Arts Diploma:
The Recording Arts Program is a comprehensive program designed to teach students the basic to advanced aspects of audio recording, operational and basic technical concepts of audio equipment provided by practical applications, demonstrations and projects that are based around the many different audio related professions. Basic system configurations are developed to understand equipment interrelationships.
The approximate time to complete this program is 44 weeks. Students will be awarded a diploma upon completion. Courses within our Recording Arts Program may not be taken on an individual basis, as all
courses have prerequisites. Only students who complete the Recording Arts Program are eligible
for Job Placement assistance.

MediaTech School of Music
Guitar Classes
Instruction provided by local professional guitar instructors skilled at offering a unique approach to
learning to play songs on the guitar, techniques that will help you teach yourself to play better and how to “jam” with other musicians and with your favorite recordings.
Private Lessons
The first lesson will focus student’s skill level and all proceeding lessons will be customized to advance the student’s musical abilities.
Group Lessons
Students with the same skill levels will have the option of group lessons – this applies to beginning and intermediate students only.
Week 1: Introduction to the guitar and determine students skill level
Week 2: Basic music theory – melody, chords and rhythm
Week 3: Tuning the Guitar – Basic Chords in the open positions
Week 4: Basic Strumming patterns – The “Boxes” system
Week 5: Introduction to Power Chords and the Blues / Rock Scales
Week 6: Song Forms and Structure – Blues, Rock, Country and Jazz
Week 7: PICK A SONG to learn and play – breakdown all parts
Week 8: EAR TRAINING - How to “JAM”– to a drum track, recording or with your friends and how to teach yourself a song by listening to recordings.
Week 9: Practice on parts to your “SONG” for final performance
Week 10: Performance techniques – how to find your “sound”, including a few guitar tricks.
Week 11: Review all lessons – Choose musical direction for the next 11 week session.
