Invercargill is the capital of Southland and has a population of 55,000 people. Known as the city of light and water, Invercargill has all the modern facilities such as shopping, entertainment and essential services one would expect for a city of this size. The city operates a free bus system encompassing the city and residential areas. Accommodation in Invercargill is probably one of the most affordable in New Zealand. Invercargill has a large student population which occupies much of the city's central rental accommodation every year.

Facilities:

Students have access to all polytechnic
facilities including common room, computer labs 24/7, student ID,
nurse, library and gym.
English classes are small and friendly,led
by caring and professionally trained ESOL tutors. Optional part-time
IELTS preparation classes are also held in the afternoons. Students
studying at SIT are well supported by the Institute's facilities.

The Grand Hall of Residence
If you are worried about accommodation and how you will be able to look
after yourself while studying at Southern Institute of Technology, then
there is no need any more! The Grand Hall of Residence is Southern
Institute of Technology's Hall of Residence. Not only will you have two
meals a day provided, you will also receive cleaning services, laundry
facilities, security and entertainment, as well as brilliant
opportunities to meet new and exciting people and make some great
friends.
The Grand Hall of Residence is the former Grand Hotel, so each room comes
fully equipped with its own ensuite...that means no communal bathrooms!

Our International Student Advisor will ensure that your accommodation
is of a good standard, that complies with the Code of Practice and that
your host family will assist you with life in New Zealand. You will
become an important part of your homestay family while you are in
Invercargill. We choose friendly and helpful families who provide
comfortable accommodation. You will have plenty of opportunity to
practise English in your homestay. Your completed application form will
provide us with the guidelines to identify a suitable homestay host for
you. We will provide you with a photograph of your hosts ands details
including its location in respect of SIT.

Taylors College Auckland provides specialised university preparation programs in partnership with leading universities in New Zealand. With successful completion of the Taylors Auckland Foundation Year (TAFY), you will be guaranteed entry into the University of Auckland, AUT University and Massey University. Originally founded in Christchurch in 1989, Aspiring Language Institute is a private, exclusive English language school that now operates from our Auckland campus which opened in 2011. We provide quality English language courses for international students from around the world. We teach students at all levels - from elementary to advanced.
