The Campbell Institute:
The Campbell Institute, in Wellington and Auckland, is a Foundation Studies School which provides students with the academic entry and English language requirements for further study in New Zealand, or overseas. Our programmes are recognised by many universities and institutes of technology worldwide, and are accredited by the New Zealand Qualifications Authority (NZQA). The Campbell Institute is the only language school in NZ with an English language programme accredited by Victoria University of Wellington, one of NZ's top 4 universities.

Homestay Accommodation:

Photo of English School in Wellington - New Zealand Foundation StudiesAll Campbell Institute Homestay Families have been assessed by The Campbell Institute for suitability, and each family has a contractual obligation to The Campbell Institute to meet minimum standards, for example a warm and comfortable bedroom, and a friendly and comfortable environment. According to the New Zealand Ministry of Education Code of Practice homestay families for students who are aged under 18 years old must be vetted by the New Zealand Police as being suitable homestay providers.

Homestay Advantages:
* Have people who take care of you from the day you arrive
* Learn quickly about New Zealand culture
* Practise your English with the homestay family
* Enjoy "home comforts" which will reduce feelings of homesickness
* Develop a "network" of New Zealand friends and acquaintances.

Some students enjoy homestay so much they stay there for up to several years and the homestay family becomes their New Zealand home!

Regular Campbell Activities:
Every day of the week Campbell has an interesting activity for you to participate in. Meet new friends, practise your English and enjoy Wellington's sophisticated street culture.

Speakeasy Coffee Club:
Monday afternoons, meet outside Campbell at 3.45pm. A different venue is selected each week.
Walk Wellington:
Explore the Wellington region on foot. The club meets every Tuesday afternoon and travels by Campbell bus to a different walking track every week. Enjoy one of the hundreds of scenic trails open to the public in the Wellington Region. Meet at Campbell at 3.30pm.

Campbell Cinema:
Every Wednesday at 3.30pm in the Seminar Room. Check the notice board in the kitchen for details of this week's movie.

The Campbell Institute's first campus was established in Wellington in 2001. Located in the centre of Wellington's entertainment and commercial district, the school is only minutes walk from restaurants and cafes, bus stops and other attractions.

In 2008, The Campbell Institute launched its Auckland campus, in cooperation with Macleans College. Macleans College is one of New Zealand's top academic colleges.

At Dominion English Schools students can transfer between the schools. There is a maximum of about 150 students in each school: large enough to have 8 levels of English; small enough for everyone to be your friend. Taylors College Auckland provides specialised university preparation programs in partnership with leading universities in New Zealand. With successful completion of the Taylors Auckland Foundation Year (TAFY), you will be guaranteed entry into the University of Auckland, AUT University and Massey University. You may also apply for other universities in NZ, Australia, UK or the USA. In 2010, 85% of TAFY students were offered a tertiary place. Our university preparation courses are open to students from New Zealand and international students from around the world.

There are two study options available for Taylors Auckland Foundation Year. If you have superior grades in English and relevant subjects and want to fast track your pathway to University, you can take the Intensive (Accelerated) Program. Intake is in April only and the course is 30 weeks. If you have achieved at least average grades in English and relevant subjects, the Standard Program will be suitable for you. You can start your study in January (39 weeks), July (39 weeks) or August (36 weeks).

Language Studies International (LSI) Auckland, with two campuses in the centre of Auckland, on the north island of New Zealand, is part of the worldwide LSI group of English Language Schools.
