All Custodians are to maintain attractive, sanitary, and safe facilities for students, staff, and the public; minimizing property damage, loss, and liability exposure to the school district.
Primary Duties and ResponsibilitiesThe following duties are not intended to serve as a comprehensive list of all duties performed by all employees in this classification, only a representative summary of the primary duties and responsibilities. Incumbent(s) may not be required to perform all duties listed and may be required to perform additional, position‑specific duties.
- Arrange furnishings and equipment for the purpose of providing adequate preparation for meetings, classroom activities, and events.
- Attend training (instruction on blood‑borne pathogens, cleaning solvents, floor care, first aid, etc.) to receive information on new and/or improved procedures.
- Clean assigned school district facilities (classrooms, offices, gyms, restrooms, multipurpose rooms, pools, grounds, etc.) to maintain a sanitary, safe, attractive environment.
- Ensure daily attendance and punctuality to meet the goals of the work unit.
- Deliver various items (supplies, mail, packages, furniture, etc.) to distribute materials to the appropriate parties.
- Assist in responding to immediate safety and/or operational concerns (facility damage, alarms, etc.) to take appropriate action to resolve immediate safety issues.
- Inspect school district facilities to ensure the site is suitable for safe operations, maintained clean, and identify required repairs due to vandalism, equipment breakage, weather conditions, etc.
- May need to perform work at heights of up to 12 feet using ladders and/or scaffolding for cleaning, changing light bulbs, replacing ceiling tiles, etc.
- Prepare school district facilities for daily operations (opening gates and building access doors, disarming security systems, raising flags, placing crosswalk signs, performing minor repairs, etc.) to ensure operational and safe facilities.
- Secure school district facilities and grounds to minimize property damage, equipment loss, and potential liability.
- Service job‑related machinery/equipment (adjusting, cleaning, and oiling vacuum cleaners, scrubbers, buffers; changing brushes, pads, etc.) to maintain equipment in good working condition.
- Work requires being on your feet for long periods of time.
- Lifting of up to 50 pounds unassisted.
Position Type: Full‑Time
Salary: $13 per year
- High School/Trade School degree preferred.
