Base Pay Bands (Hourly)
- IC2: $30–$40/hr
- IC3: $40-$45/hr
- IC4: $45-$55/hr

A premier IT company is growing its Abilene data center team and looking for Facilities Operations Technicians who want to work on mission‑critical electrical, mechanical, HVAC, and cooling systems that support always‑on global platforms.
Whether you’re an early‑career technician looking to deepen your hands‑on experience (
IC2–IC3
) or a senior technician ready to lead complex incidents and mentor others (
IC4–IC5
), this role gives you direct ownership of the systems that keep data centers running safely, reliably, and efficiently.
- Operate, monitor, and maintain critical facility systems supporting 24/7 uptime
- Perform hands‑on troubleshooting
, incident response, and root cause analysis for electrical and mechanical issues - Support upgrades, retrofits, and commissioning of new or modified systems
- Execute work using established procedures while improving one‑lines, drawings, logs, and test plans
- Partner closely with operations, engineering, construction teams, vendors, and utilities
- Clearly communicate technical risks, findings, and operational status
- Senior‑level technicians lead complex troubleshooting events and mentor junior team members
- Experience working in mission‑critical or industrial facilities
- (data centers, utilities, manufacturing, healthcare, large commercial environments)
- Ability to read and interpret one‑lines, schematics, P&IDs, mechanical drawings, and sequences of operation
- Working knowledge in at least one core domain:
- Electrical: switch gear, UPS, generators, grounding, power distribution
- Mechanical / HVAC: chilled water, DX, CRAH/CRAC, pumps, cooling towers
- General: integrated electrical, mechanical, and controls operations
- Strong troubleshooting skills supporting incident response, maintenance, or commissioning
- Proven ability to work safely in time‑sensitive, high‑risk environments
- Solid understanding of LOTO, arc‑flash awareness, PPE, and industrial safety practices
- Clear communicator with strong ownership, accountability, and judgment
- Experience with:
- UPS, generators, switch gear
- Chillers, CRAH/CRAC units, pumps, cooling towers
- BMS / EPMS systems
- Exposure to commissioning, vendor coordination, maintenance planning, or acceptance testing
- Trade credentials (Journeyman/Master Electrician, HVAC or mechanical certifications)
- EPA Section 608
, NFPA 70E
, or similar safety certifications - Experience using CMMS or digital maintenance tools
- Additional data center or facilities training (ASHRAE, CHD, Uptime ATD, DCCA‑aligned programs)
Exact compensation may vary based on several factors, including skills, experience, and education. Employees in this role will enjoy a comprehensive benefits package starting on day one of employment, including options for medical, dental, and vision insurance.
