Field/Service Technician, Maintenance Technician / Mechanic
Job Summary
Under general supervision, perform technical work and related activities associated with the planning, engineering, design, analysis, research, development, testing, construction, maintenance and operation of Company equipment and facilities. The role of Meter Technician varies by organizational unit.
Responsibilities- Assist in resolving conflict, building consensus, and presenting technical reports clearly and concisely.
- Maintain awareness of risk and the Company’s competitive position; provide input to achieve organizational goals.
- Understand and perform technical functions in the assigned area; use technical and computer tools cost‑effectively while ensuring compliance with standards, codes, regulations, and procedures.
- Prepare cost estimates for non‑routine work, special projects, and future planning based on records.
- Plan, organize, and conduct meetings to discuss project status.
- Repair electronic instruments, controls, and equipment efficiently.
- Support daily operation of the repair shop, including data analysis, report preparation, and record keeping.
- Provide solutions for routine and moderately complex problems.
- Develop software programs related to meter services that improve productivity.
- Test, maintain, and operate all types of metering equipment and related test equipment.
- Support Transmission and Generation level metering, including programming, installation, and testing.
- Participate in the development of training material and provide training support for internal and external audiences.
- Conduct acceptance evaluations on new equipment, evaluate failures, compile reports, and make recommendations.
- Assist others with technical work related to engineering, providing sketches, drawings, material lists, cost estimates, and reports.
- Perform duties in accordance with Company safety rules and report unsafe conditions.
- Support ethically sound behavior and promote shared accountability among employees.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Associate degree (two years) in electrical/electronic technology.
- No prior experience required.
- Valid state driver’s license.
- Willingness to acquire additional qualifications within the Company’s timeline.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work productively in a team environment.
- Willingness to work overtime as required.
Must be physically capable of performing all essential functions, including hearing spoken words during meetings and handling equipment up to 50 pounds of force occasionally. May be required to work on customer facilities in remote or rough terrain. Light to medium physical demand level as described in the posting.
CompensationCompensation Grade: SP20-004
Range: $25.99 - $44.80 per hour
