Job Description Summary
The Water & Sewer Utility Worker I is responsible for manual and semi‑skilled work related to water and sewer maintenance operations. The position also performs routine maintenance and minor repairs in the equipment repair facility.
Responsibilities- Perform general labor tasks related to water and sewer systems.
- Assist in maintenance of tools and equipment, including hand and power tools and hydro‑jet cleaning machines.
- Operate a variety of hand and power tools and one‑ton or less County vehicles in accordance with safety standards.
- Follow Standard Operating Procedures, OSHA, MOSH, and County safety regulations.
- Execute tasks and projects as directed, managing multiple priorities.
1 year of related experience; no supervisory experience required.
High school diploma or equivalent.
Valid Class
C non‑commercial driver's license with no more than three points; full driver’s license number must be provided with the application.
- Strong organizational and prioritization skills.
- Ability to interpret OSHAs and Standard Operating Procedures.
- Basic computer skills and use of communication devices.
- Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills for internal and external stakeholders.
- Basic equipment maintenance and repair abilities.
- Attention to detail and active listening skills.
Must comply with all federal, state, and County safety regulations.
CompensationSalary range: $38,699 to $102,157. Budgeted salary $43,800.
Hiring bonus of $5,000 paid within first six months; requires at least two years of employment.
Other compensation may include overtime, compensatory time, and shift differentials.
