The Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for leading and coordinating maintenance activities to ensure the safe, efficient, and reliable operation of manufacturing equipment, facilities, and utilities. This position supervises maintenance technicians, contractors and vendors, manages preventive and predictive maintenance programs, minimizes equipment downtime, and supports continuous improvement initiatives to meet production and operational goals. This position reports directly to the Manufacturing Engineer Manager.
Key Responsibilities Leadership & Supervision- Supervise,train, coach, and evaluate maintenance technicians and contractors.
- Schedule and assign maintenance work based on production requirements and business priorities.
- Ensure adequate staffing and coverage for all shifts as required.
- Promote employee development through skills training and performance management.
- Fostera culture of accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
- Direct daily maintenance activities, including troubleshooting, repairs,installations, and upgrades.
- Ensure timely response to equipment breakdowns and production interruptions.
- Coordinate preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance programs.
- Monitor equipment performance and reliability metrics to reduce downtime.
- Maintain accurate maintenance records and work orders within the CMMS system.
- Analyze recurring equipment failures and implement corrective actions.
- Support root cause analysis investigations and reliability improvement projects.
- Collaborate with engineering and production teams on equipment modifications and capital projects.
- Drive improvements in Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) and asset utilization.
- Manage relationships with external contractors,service providers, and equipment vendors to ensure quality, cost-effective maintenance support.
- Coordinate and oversee contractor activities toensure compliance with company safety policies, OSHA regulations, permits, andsite-specific requirements.
- Review contractor work scopes, specifications,and service agreements to ensure alignment with operational needs and maintenance standards.
- Obtain and evaluate quotes, bids, and proposals for maintenance services, repairs, and capital projects.
- Monitor contractor and vendor performance,including quality of work, responsiveness, safety performance, and adherence to schedules.
- Approve completed work, verify service quality,and ensure proper documentation before processing invoices.
- Partner with vendors to troubleshoot equipment issues, identify reliability improvements, and implement equipment upgrades.
- Participate in contractor safety orientations,audits, and performance reviews to maintain compliance and reduce operationalrisk.
- Collaborate with procurement and finance teamsto control maintenance expenditures and support budget objectives.
- Manage the Maintenance, Repair, and Operations (MRO) inventory program to ensure availability of critical spare parts, tools,and maintenance supplies.
- Establish and maintain appropriate inventory levelsto support equipment reliability while minimizing excess stock and carrying costs.
- Oversee ordering, receiving, storage, and issuance of maintenance materials and replacement parts.
- Enforce all company safety policies and OSHA regulations.
- Ensure proper Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), confined space, electrical safety, and safe work practices.
- Conduct safety audits, inspections, and incident investigations.
- Maintain compliance with environmental,regulatory, and company requirements.
- Assistin developing and managing departmental budgets.
- Control maintenance labor, overtime, parts inventory, and contractor expenses.
- Coordinate procurement of replacement parts, equipment, and services.
- Monitor inventory levels to ensure critical spare parts availability.
- Participate in Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, TPM, and other continuous improvement initiatives.
- Identify opportunities to improve maintenance processes and equipment reliability.
- Support implementation of new technologies and maintenance best practices.
- Develop and maintain maintenance procedures and specifications.
- Createand update documentation to support operational efficiency.
- Readand interpret drawings, blueprints, and specifications.
- Travel is required for up to 25% and may include visits to other company facilities, projects, training events andcross-functional collaborations.
- Associate degree in Industrial Maintenance,Mechanical Engineering Technology, Electrical Technology, or related field;equivalent experience may be considered.
- 5+ years of industrial or manufacturing maintenance experience.
- 2+ years of supervisory or team leadership experience.
- Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical,hydraulic, pneumatic, and automation systems.
