Maintenance Worker

Atlas Healthcare at Seashore Gardens is seeking a dependable and motivated Maintenance Worker to join our team. The Maintenance Worker is responsible for helping maintain a safe, functional, and well-maintained environment for our residents, visitors, and staff. This position performs routine maintenance, repairs, preventative maintenance, and assists with facility projects as needed.

Responsibilities
  • Perform routine maintenance and repairs throughout the facility, including resident rooms, common areas, offices, and exterior grounds.

  • Respond promptly to maintenance requests and work orders.

  • Troubleshoot and repair plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting, drywall, and general building maintenance issues within the scope of the position.

  • Perform basic preventative maintenance on HVAC equipment and building systems.

  • Replace light bulbs, ceiling tiles, door hardware, locks, and other building fixtures.

  • Assist with troubleshooting and repairing the nurse call light system and other facility equipment.

  • Perform preventative maintenance on building systems and equipment.

  • Set up resident rooms for new admissions, including beds, air mattresses, televisions, furniture, and other equipment.

  • Assist with moving furniture, equipment, appliances, and supplies throughout the facility.

  • Perform basic painting, drywall repair, wall patching, caulking, and touch‑up work.

  • Maintain facility grounds by removing debris, performing seasonal outdoor maintenance, and assisting with snow and ice removal as needed.

  • Monitor the facility for safety hazards and report issues requiring outside vendors or specialized repairs.

  • Maintain maintenance tools, equipment, and supply inventory.

  • Follow OSHA regulations, infection control standards, and facility safety procedures, including the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).

  • Work collaboratively with Nursing, Housekeeping, Administration, and other departments to ensure timely completion of maintenance requests.

  • Participate in emergency preparedness activities and respond to urgent maintenance needs.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
  • Previous experience in building maintenance, facilities maintenance, apartment maintenance, hotel maintenance, commercial maintenance, healthcare maintenance, long‑term care maintenance, skilled nursing facility maintenance, or a related trade preferred.

  • Working knowledge of plumbing, electrical, carpentry, HVAC, painting, drywall, and general building repairs.

  • Experience using hand tools, power tools, ladders, and maintenance equipment safely.

  • Ability to troubleshoot maintenance issues and prioritize multiple work orders.

  • Strong customer service and communication skills.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

  • Ability to frequently stand, walk, climb stairs, bend, kneel, lift, push, and pull.

  • Ability to lift up to 75 pounds.

  • Reliable attendance and a positive, professional attitude.
