Pallet Repair and Recycling Technician

The Pallet Repair & Recycling Technician can complete minor carpentry repairs on used pallets for reservice, able to operate baler & trash compactor under the direction of the Facilities and Safety Manager. Being able to adapt to new situations and environments is a must. The work schedule will be Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM.

• Pallet Maintenance:
  Broken boards, damaged stringers, or other faulty components are replaced with new ones. Nails are secure or replaced, loose boards are reattached, and any other necessary fixes are performed.
• Performs routine custodial work such as: spot cleaning; removing trash and plastic in accordance with established procedures; cleaning, disinfecting facilities.
• Skillfully operate forklifts and other warehouse equipment such as the baler as required, prioritizing safety and precision in all activities.
• Uphold the highest standards of cleanliness and safety to ensure a comfortable and secure workplace for all employees.
• Seasonal grounds maintenance:
  Properly operate a variety of lawn care power equipment.
• Assist the Maintenance and JL Local teams with additional tasks as needed.

• Minimum 6 months prior experience in maintenance, custodial or tradesmen related field.
• Working knowledge of a variety of hand and power tools.

• Lifting:
  Ability to lift and carry objects weighing up to [75] pounds, utilizing proper lifting techniques to prevent injury.
• Standing and Walking:
  Capable of standing and walking for extended periods while performing maintenance duties throughout the facility.
• Bending and Stooping:
  Flexibility to bend, stoop, kneel, and crouch when necessary to access and repair equipment or facilities in various positions.
• Climbing:
  Proficiency in climbing ladders, stairs, and using elevated platforms to reach elevated maintenance points within the facility.
• Manual Dexterity:
  Excellent manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination for handling tools, equipment, and performing intricate maintenance tasks.
• Reaching:
  Ability to reach overhead and horizontally to access and maintain equipment and fixtures.
• Pushing and Pulling:
  Capability to push, pull, and maneuver heavy equipment and objects as required during maintenance activities.
• Visual Acuity:
  Sufficient visual acuity to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and safety labels.
• Hearing:
  Adequate hearing ability to communicate with colleagues, detect equipment malfunctions, and be aware of potential safety hazards in the environment.
• Climatic Tolerance:
  Ability to work in varying environmental conditions, including exposure to heat, cold, humidity, and inclement weather while performing outdoor maintenance tasks.
• Respiratory Health:
  Capacity to wear and properly use personal protective equipment, including respiratory masks, when handling chemicals or working in dusty environments.
• Physical Stamina:
  Possess the physical stamina to perform strenuous tasks and respond to emergency maintenance requests as necessary.
