Maintenance Supervisor

The Maintenance Supervisor coordinates the installation, maintenance, and repairs of all company machinery and equipment within the facility, including any maintenance or repairs of the building or property. The Maintenance Supervisor manages the hourly maintenance personnel in a safe, effective and efficient manner in compliance with the company policies, procedures and all legislative requirements.

Job duties include assessing and prioritizing work requests, following up on work orders, maintaining stock inventory, preparing manpower schedules, inspecting facility areas, attending production meetings, researching materials, focusing on error proofing and cost reductions, contacting outside contractors, championing new equipment, being on call 24/7, preparing overtime equalization sheets, overseeing schedule rotation, adhering to supervisory expectations, reading and interpreting equipment manuals, coordinating preventive maintenance, detecting faulty operations, complying with safety regulations, being involved in building maintenance, coordinating contractor activities, updating project information, maintaining project files, organizing drawings, supporting department management, updating records systems, setting priorities for maintenance work orders, maintaining supplies and equipment, requisiting work, attending meetings, meeting with authorities, completing reports, driving company vehicles, coordinating painting and decorating, adhering to departmental procedures, organizing minor construction work, maintaining inventory, operating maintenance programs, troubleshooting electrical components, installing and repairing plumbing fixtures, organizing mechanical maintenance, initiating safety concerns, managing snow removal and ice safety, landscaping, planning, and performing other duties as assigned.
Requirements include a community college degree in a related field, five years in a mechanical/electrical capacity as a tradesman or five years related experience, ability to comprehend and communicate instructions, ability to multi-task and establish priorities, ability to maintain organization, ability to seek out downtime reduction activities, initiative, responsibility, flexibility, leadership, knowledge of contract administration and office procedures, ability to perform small repairs, knowledge of local, provincial and federal workplace compliance regulations, possession of a valid driver’s license, ability to create…
