Hours: 8:30pm – 4:30am

Starting Date: Immediately

Duration: 12 months

Reports To: Foreman

The job of Custodian is to provide custodial services at the assigned site, ensuring an attractive, sanitary and safe environment for students, staff and visitors, perform special cleaning operations, and assist in preparing facilities for classroom activities and campus events.

• Arrange furniture and equipment for special events.
• Clean assigned facilities and/or grounds (classrooms, offices, gym, restrooms, etc.) to maintain a sanitary, safe and attractive environment.
• Deliver supplies, mail, packages, furniture, etc. to appropriate parties within the site.
• Perform summer cleaning (strip/wax floors, move furniture, paint, clean windows, etc.) to complete or facilitate summer construction.
• Prepare site for daily operations (open gates, raise flags, sweep walkways, etc.) ensuring facilities are operational and hazard free.
• Replenish classroom and restroom supplies (light bulbs, paper towels, soap, etc.) to maintain adequate quantities for daily use.
• Respond to immediate safety and/or operational concerns (facility damage, vandalism, alarms, etc.) by taking appropriate action or notifying appropriate personnel.

• Attend meetings, in‑service training, workshops, etc. to gather information required to perform job functions.
• Inform building administration and faculty regarding activities, safety issues and/or proper maintenance of facilities and equipment.
• Monitor students and staff in and around work areas (halls, multipurpose rooms, lunchroom, restrooms, grounds, etc.) to prevent injuries, ensure site safety and report issues.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
• Secure facilities and grounds (doors, gates, alarms, lights, etc.) to minimize property damage, equipment loss and/or liability.
• Support other site maintenance staff (grounds, etc.) to complete site custodial activities.

Education: High school diploma or equivalent.

Experience: Job‑related experience desired.

FLSA Status: Non‑Exempt.

Position Type: Full‑Time.

• Carry trash containers over 50 gallons and furniture/materials over 50 pounds; climb ladders; operate industrial maintenance equipment; operate motor vehicles as necessary; adhere to safety practices.
• Read and follow written and oral instructions; understand multi‑step instructions; apply methods of industrial cleaning; apply safety practices and procedures.

Significant lifting, carrying, pushing or pulling, some climbing, balancing, frequent stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling and fine finger dexterity. Job: 3% sitting, 46% walking, 52% standing. Minimal temperature variation with risk of injury/illness.
