Maintenance Specialist – Building and Grounds
The Adrian Dominican Sisters are seeking a Full Time Maintenance Specialist to join our Facilities and Grounds team on the Mother house Campus in Adrian, Michigan. This position performs building, facilities, equipment and grounds maintenance on our Mother house campus which includes buildings that house office spaces, residential rooms, common/activity areas, dining areas, nursing home and medical facilities, hotel and conference rooms, meeting rooms, restrooms, locker/shower rooms and break rooms.

HoursMonday – Friday, 7:30am – 4pm. Some holidays. On call rotation every 8 weeks with added pay incentive for that week.

- Work alongside maintenance, facilities and grounds department team members on major repairs and construction projects throughout campus.
- Paint designated facilities, e.g., hallways, offices, parlors, etc.
- Make appropriate repairs such as replacing light bulbs, stopping drains, basic plumbing and fixture replacement, etc.
- Maintain electrical equipment and appliances.
- Observe, maintain, and keep clean emergency power and medical equipment.
- Install and repair toilets, wash stands, lavatory equipment, radiators, etc.
- Complete general carpentry work.
- Repair glass, windows, screens, furniture, etc.
- Assist other members of the maintenance department, outside contractors and skilled tradesmen as directed.
- Maintain shop, equipment, and work area in a clean and safe manner.
- Respond appropriately to phone and computer-generated work orders and service requests from staff and residents in a timely manner.
- Comply with all safety policies and procedures by practicing safety and health while performing duties.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Supervisor.
Education:
High school graduate or equivalent.
Experience:
3-5 years' experience in the general mechanical field or facilities maintenance preferred but willing to train. Experience maintaining mobility equipment preferred.
- Must be able to pass a background check and drug screen.
- Must have a valid driver's license.
- Ability to understand and carry out oral and written instructions.
- Ability to work with others and also independently.
- Ability to effectively deal with a variety of personalities in a tactful and professional manner.
- Ability to use hand and power tools.
- Ability to sit, stand, and walk up to 8-hours per day.
- Ability to frequently bend, stoop, reach, climb, and lift up to 50 pounds.
- Must be sighted and capable of hearing.
- Annual influenza vaccination is required for this position.
- Work is performed in a healthcare/long term care setting.
- Work involves on-site time; frequent interaction with residents, guests and volunteers with various medical conditions and other employees up to 8 hours each day.
- The organization observes applicable guidelines of the CDC, OSHA, and other federal, state, and local authorities.
