The Salvation Army Red Shield Shelter, 604 Park Ave., Aiken, SC 29801.

Job Type: Part Time with Benefits (approximately 20+ hours per week).

Schedule:

Monday – Thursday 9:00am‑3:30pm and Friday 9:00am‑2:30pm. Permanent hours; utilizes 24‑hour shelter staffing, including holidays.

Pay: $10.00 hourly, paid bi‑weekly.

Education Required:

High School Diploma or GED.

• Clean and sanitize restrooms, including sinks, toilets, mirrors, and fixtures; replenish paper products and supplies as needed.
• Perform routine cleaning duties throughout the facility to maintain a safe, sanitary, and welcoming environment.
• Monitor, repair, and replace light bulbs, fluorescent tubes, spotlights, exit lights, and address other minor lighting issues.
• Assemble, move, and arrange office furniture such as desks, chairs, tables, and bulletin boards.
• Perform minor repairs and general maintenance of buildings and grounds as assigned.
• Safely use, maintain, and store cleaning supplies, maintenance tools, and equipment.
• Work indoors and outdoors, with exposure to dirt, dust, odors, and varying temperatures.
• Perform physically demanding tasks requiring standing, walking, bending, squatting, climbing, and lifting; occasional sitting may be required.
• Exert the physical energy necessary to complete janitorial and maintenance responsibilities efficiently.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

High school diploma or GED and at least six months of experience performing general janitorial and general maintenance duties. Maintenance experience is preferred but not required.

Any equivalent combination of training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

Duties are performed standing and require squatting, climbing, bending, and walking. Brief or occasional periods of sitting may relieve some duties.

Physical effort required: walking, standing, lifting and carrying up to 50lb frequently.

Work is performed in both indoor and outdoor environments with exposure to dirt, dust, disagreeable sights and/or odors, and varying temperatures.
