Position: CUSTODIAL WORKER ENG
Position Description

General Overview

Under general supervision, performs duties to provide care, cleaning, and maintenance of facilities, furniture, and fixtures; directs and works with housekeeping crew of CWEP workers in the daily cleaning of agency facilities. Performs related duties as required.

Required Qualifications

Any combination of training and work experience which indicates possession of the skills, knowledge and abilities listed below. Completion of ninth grade level education and six (6) months semi-skilled work experience, or equivalent combination of training and/or experience.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Basic knowledge of safety practices and procedures; department policies and procedures*; custodial methods and techniques; proper lifting techniques. Ability to carry out instructions in written, oral, or picture form; deal with problems involving few variables within familiar context; cooperate with co-workers on group projects; demonstrate physical agility; lift supplies, trash receptacles, and similar items; demonstrate manual dexterity; train or instruct others.

Job Duties

The duties listed below are intended to depict tasks performed by this classification. Performs general maintenance and cleaning duties (e.g., cleans and maintains floors; washes walls; cleans, dusts, and waxes furniture and fixtures: cleans and empties trash receptacles; removes and hangs drapes; removes snow and ice from walkways and drives; reports need for equipment repair; reports evidence of fire, illegal entry, and theft;

checks in and stocks supplies; etc.). Directs and works with housekeeping crew of CWEP workers in the daily cleaning of agency buildings (e.g., dust mopping, wet mopping, and spray buffing floors; cleaning furniture; cleaning carpets; emptying trash; cleaning ashtrays, blinds, windows and sills; etc.); directs and cleans agency restrooms, stairwells, hallways, and cafeteria. Performs light building and equipment maintenance and repair.

Attends staff meetings, workshops, and seminars to remain current on agency regulations, policies, and procedures.
