General Mechanic

Full-time, 40 hours

Split shift (3 days 1st shift, 2 days 2nd shift)

Summary:

Analyzes and responds in a self-directed manner to tenant requests for services to a broad variety of electrical, mechanical, plumbing, carpentry, painting, vinyling and heating/cooling functions. Performs preventative maintenance and completes records for the buildings main mechanical systems; air conditioning, plumbing, electrical systems. Performs safety checks; orders supplies and equipment as needed; performs related functions.

Minimum Qualifications:

1. Formal

Education Required:

a. Two (2) years trade school

OR

b. High school level course in grammar, composition and mathematics

2. Experience & Training

Required:

a. Two (2) years general maintenance experience in a large institution, commercial facility or service company

b. Universal EPA refrigeration certification preferred. If not currently certified, required to obtain certification within 6-12 mths of Summa employment.

a. Ability to plan, prioritize workload and effectively resolve problems.

b. Ability to communicate effectively with healthcare professionals, engineers, contractors and staff.

c. Ability to analyze data, diagnose and troubleshoot complex systems and equipment.

d. Ability to work from blueprints and drawings.

e. Ability to demonstrate behaviors consistent with the customer service policy.

f. Ability to effectively interact with populations of patients/customers with an understanding of their needs for self-respect and dignity

4. Level of Physical Demands:

a. Medium:
Exerts 20-50 pounds of force occasionally and/or ten to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force continuously to move objects.
