What You'll Do- Inspect motor vehicles to determine if unsafe, improperly equipped or lacking required equipment; enter and exit vehicles, use a creeper to visually check mechanical components.
- Enter and retrieve information using many OSHP databases.
- Complete inspection forms and affix inspection decals to passing vehicles.
- Operate the state-owned motor vehicle inspection vehicle to transport equipment.
- Inform owners or operators of necessary repairs or adjustments to place vehicles in safe condition.

- At least 6 months of training or experience in automotive maintenance & repair or mechanical vehicle inspections.
- At least 6 months experience using a personal computer and associated business office applications (e.g., Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Formal education in arithmetic, reading, writing, and speaking common English vocabulary.
- Valid driver's license.
- Equivalent qualifications may be considered.

Computer UsageUse of a computer/tablet within job duties is required; applicants must explain their computer experience in their application.
Unusual Working ConditionsWorks outside exposed to weather, dirt, rust, car fumes, burns from hot engines, fast-moving vehicles, highway noise and angry vehicle owners; conducts inspections in confined spaces under vehicles utilizing a creeper.
Background Check- BCI and FBI fingerprint check, background check, and polygraph examination may be required.
- A comparative analysis and/or drug test may also be required.
