This intermittent Housekeeper position requires the maintenance of building floors, hallways, windows, ceilings, walls, furniture, restrooms, and linens at the Luverne Veterans Home. The role involves sweeping, mopping, waxing, vacuuming, cleaning, and minor repair tasks within a rotating schedule that covers all shifts and some weekends.
Key Responsibilities- Sweep, scrub, mop, wax, strip-wax floor surfaces, and vacuum carpets.
- Clean windows, ceilings, and walls by selecting appropriate cleaning agents, mixing chemicals, and applying them safely.
- Dust, rearrange furniture, and set up or take down tables and chairs as needed.
- Clean restrooms, scrub floors, maintain soap and paper supplies, and empty trash containers.
- Assist with the distribution of clean linen and the pickup of soiled linen.
- Understanding of different flooring types and appropriate maintenance methods.
- Knowledge of chemical cleaning agents and safe handling, disposal, and application.
- Ability to operate maintenance tools and equipment and perform minor repairs.
- Use hand tools and handle light materials manually.
- Operate ladders and scaffolding safely.
- Perform laundry functions.
- Work in adverse weather conditions.
- Complete assigned tasks with limited direction.
- Make minor mechanical repairs to maintenance equipment.
- Operate simple maintenance equipment.
- Follow instructions, read manuals, and keep simple records.
- Employer background check may be conducted for finalists and must be passed.
- TB (Mantoux) screening or chest x‑ray required before employment.
- Employment reference checks will be conducted on finalists.
