Position Summary:
Manages all props for theatre productions from sourcing through rehearsal and performance.
Must be eligible for Federal Work Study. If uncertain of eligibility, please contact the Office of Financial Aid.
Duties & Responsibilities:- Maintain and organize props storage
- Source, build, or acquire props for productions
- Track prop usage during rehearsals
- Ensure props are preset and maintained
- Assist with additional theatre production and facility tasks as assigned by the Technical Director after primary weekly responsibilities have been completed.
- Weekly Deliverables
- Updated props tracking sheet for current productions
- Rehearsal/performance props checklist
- Photo documentation of prop tables or storage
- List of outstanding or missing props
- Strong organizational and time-management skills
- Attention to detail when tracking and presetting props
- Basic construction, crafting, or modification skills
- Clear verbal and written communication
- Ability to follow production schedules and instructions
- Work independently with minimal supervision
- Lift, move, and transport props and materials as needed
- Track prop usage during rehearsals and performances
- Maintain organized prop tables and storage areas
- Collaborate effectively with directors, designers, and crew
- Reliable weekly availability
- Responsible handling of departmental property
- Basic theatrical props terminology and usage
- Safe handling and storage of props and materials
- Inventory tracking and record-keeping procedures
- Rehearsal and performance workflow
- Workplace and shop safety practices
- Prior theatre or backstage experience
- Familiarity with props handling or stage management
- Basic crafting or construction experience
- Standard office equipment (computer, copier)
- Hand tools and basic shop equipment
- Props storage carts, shelving, and tables
- Applicants must be enrolled as a JSU student taking at least six (6) hours per fall or spring semester. (Requirements for international students below. *)
- If not a first‑time student, the applicant must have a GPA of 2.00 or higher.
- Selected applicants must provide evidence of student enrollment and GPA (unofficial transcript or printout of enrollment/GPA from My Jax State .
- Must be eligible for Federal Work Study.
- May not be a Dual Enrollment Student.
- International students on student visas are not eligible for Federal Work Study positions.
