Position Summary: Operates and maintains boilers, chillers, generators and associated support systems.
Responsibilities- Monitors control screens and observes various meters and gauges to ensure equipment is operating properly.
- Starts, stops and switches over boilers as appropriate.
- Cleans and repairs boilers, blow tubes and discharges sediment, and pumping equipment.
- Starts and stops chillers to maintain setpoints and efficiency.
- Checks and monitors cooling towers and regulates feed water.
- Keeps appropriate logs for chemical treatment to boiler and cooling system water.
- Conducts and documents generator testing.
- Operates switch gear to regulate and transfer power loads.
- Completes assigned preventative and corrective maintenance work orders and ensures work order data is captured in TMS.
- Logs all pertinent operating information and maintains records to ensure compliance with state and federal regulations and Joint Commission guidelines.
- Coordinates, conducts and documents all fire and life safety measures to include inspections and testing to ensure compliance with policies.
- Assists in training other plant engineers with energy plant operation/maintenance specific skills.
- Maintains reasonably regular, punctual attendance consistent with Orlando Health policies, the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards.
- Maintains compliance with all Orlando Health policies and procedures.
Other Related Functions:
- Adheres to established hospital and departmental policies, procedures, objectives, quality assurance, safety and infection control activities.
- Attends in‑services and meetings as required, maintains all records and information pertinent to work assignments.
- Keeps work area orderly, clean and safe.
- Promotes and engages in behavior that is conducive to Orlando Health’s standards of behavior.
- Performs all other duties as assigned.
Education/Training High school graduate or equivalent.
Licensure/Certification None.
Experience Five (5) years of experience in building trades or energy plant operations required. Three years of experience is required if a trade or vocational school graduate.
