Assistant Village Services Supervisor - Atqasuk

Federal Testing Requirements

All Borough employees who occupy positions where federal law mandates testing shall comply with the requirements of the federal regulations and will be subject to pre-employment, random, post-accident, reasonable suspicion return to duty and follow-up testing.

The following duties are not intended to constitute a comprehensive list of responsibilities. They provide a representative summary of major duties and responsibilities. Additional duties may be required.

• Assist in the supervision of the maintenance of roads, airports, landfills, and equipment.
• Assist in the management of all Village Services operations and personnel.
• Assist in establishing a priority road network, assuring that these roads are open and usable at all times.
• Assist in recruiting, hiring, evaluating, supervising and handling personnel issues.
• Assist in maintaining employee and equipment records.
• Assist in coordinating equipment maintenance and record keeping.
• Serve as Acting Village Services Supervisor when necessary.
• Serve as an Equipment Operator or Mechanic as necessary.
• Conduct safety meetings and instruct personnel regarding Borough policies and procedures.
• May be required to work a non-traditional work schedule to include evening, holidays and weekends and may be subject to 24 hour on-call status.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

• Knowledge of North Slope Borough organization, operations, policies and procedures.
• Skill in using personal computers and a variety of software applications.
• Skill in working under pressure of deadlines, and establishing and maintaining cooperative working relationships with department staff and other Borough employees.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relations with co-workers, other Borough employees and representatives from other local, state and Federal agencies.
• High school graduate or G.E.D. or a combination of 12 years of education and related work experience.
• Two years experience with the operation and maintenance of mobile and stationary equipment.
• Two years supervisory experience.
• Valid Alaska Commercial Driver's License that meets North Slope Borough insurance criteria.
