Overview

What is the position: The Crew Lead is responsible for monitoring the work performed by Certificated Technicians, including the proper execution of paperwork and forms in accordance with Company, Manufacturer, and Federal requirements.

Essential Functions
  • Performing maintenance work and monitoring Certificated Technicians on aircraft, in and about Company shops, maintenance bases and line stations, including, but not limited to, periodic aircraft service checks, dismantling, overhauling, repairing, fabricating and assembling all parts of aircraft and aircraft components.
  • Maintain work areas, tools & vehicles in a safe, clean and functional condition at all times.
  • Perform Routine Releases returning to service aircraft, or aircraft components for which he/she has performed maintenance.
  • Assist in the supervision, training and of all work performed by Non-Certificated Apprentice Technicians.
  • Assist in the identification of Company and Manufacturers manual deficiencies for management review.
  • Notifying the appropriate Inspection personnel whenever an RII is identified during maintenance procedures.
  • Ensure that all hazardous materials storage is frequently inspected to ensure proper containers, lids, labeling and location also that are handled and stored in accordance with Company and regulatory requirements.
  • Regular attendance is an essential function of all positions at Commute Air.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Authority
  • Perform any maintenance action on which he/she has been trained, qualified, or authorized.
  • Shall have the authority to approve parts requests for nonstocked parts.
  • May remove any aircraft from service when an unairworthy condition exists.
  • May return Company aircraft and equipment to service under the privileges of their certificate and Company authorizations
Delegation of Authority
  • This individual may not delegate authorities to other Maintenance Personnel, as indicated in the Org chart.
  • Must hold a current Airframe and Powerplant certificate or other certificates acceptable to management. (i.e., Repairman, Powerplant, or Airframe.)
  • Demonstrate a positive attitude towards productivity, safety, and quality maintenance.
  • Hold a valid state issued driver s license and government issued passport.
  • Minimum 2 years of applicable aircraft maintenance experience, preferably in an airline or comparable environment
  • Organized with the ability to multi-task and manage competing priorities regularly
  • Ability to read, speak, and understand the English language.
  • Legally authorized to work in the USA.
Physical Requirements

Exerting up to 50 lbs. of force frequently and/or up to 20 lbs. of force regularly to move objects.

  • Ability to safely drive tugs, trucks and hangar equipment, taxi aircraft, alert to moving vehicles and aircraft in the work area.
  • Ability to lift, push, pull and maneuver up to 50 lbs. regularly, bend, stoop, crawl, crouch, and kneel frequently, and often in confined spaces.
  • Ability to stand and/or walk for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to hear instructions orally, in loud environments, and the ability to detect fine differences in sound that may or may not affect the repair or operation of aircraft.
  • Ability and willingness to wear personal protection equipment when necessary.
  • All physical requirements may be performed with or without accommodation.

Machine operators and visual inspection includes office administrative functions:

Includes inspection, close assembly, clerical administrative;
This is a minimal standard for use with those whose work deals largely with preparing and analyzing data and figures, accounting, computer, extensive reading, visual inspection involving small defects, small parts, operation of machines using measuring devices, assembly or fabrication of parts with out without corrective lenses.

Environmental Conditions
  • Depending on work location, may be exposed to inside and outside environmental conditions including, extreme heat, temperatures above 100 degrees for periods of more than one hour and/or extreme cold, temperatures below 32 degrees for extended periods
  • High noise levels, which may require PPE.
  • Vibration: exposure to oscillation movements of extremities or the whole body.
  • Hazard awareness: including proximity to moving parts, electrical current, working on ladders; exposure to chemicals and power equipment.
  • Atmospheric conditions: including the possibility of conditions that affect the respiratory system or the skin, fumes, odors, dusts, mists, gases or working in areas with poor ventilation for more than a few minutes.
  • Oils: there is air and/or skin exposure to oils and other fluids
  • The worker may be required to wear a respirator at times.
