Maintenance III
The Maintenance III position is responsible for performing all maintenance tasks to improve the physical appearance, function, and operation of agency buildings, property and equipment. This individual must demonstrate the knowledge and application of commonly-used concepts, practices, and safety procedures in the areas of plumbing, carpentry, painting, plastering, electrical, grounds keeping, pest management and vehicle servicing. Works under minimal supervision of the maintenance supervisor (or supervisor designee) while also relying on experience and judgement to organize and complete tasks.
Duties &
Responsibilities include:
- Making minor and major carpentry, electrical, mechanical and plumbing repairs.
- Assists with the renovation/remodeling of buildings.
- Obtaining estimates for supplies, materials and repairs.
- Safely uses hand tools, power tools, gas powered equipment and other equipment to make minor and major repairs, to maintain grounds and properties.
- Ensures tools are readily available and in good working order and available for each task, including performing maintenance on the tools.
- Follows all applicable safety rules, practices and procedures.
- Responds to emergency maintenance requests as required.
- Assists the maintenance supervisor as needed.
- Performing touch-up, priming, and finish painting of all agency properties.
- Performing required yard work, during all four seasons.
- Completing monthly agency vehicle inspections, and cleaning of the vehicles.
- Maintaining records of scheduled maintenance and inspections.
- Picking up and delivering supplies and materials.
- Provide additional supervision of Maintenance I and Maintenance II staff as requested by the Director of Buildings & Grounds.
- Additional position-related duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Director of Buildings & Grounds.
Position Requirements:
- High School/GED equivalent is required and least five years' experience as a maintenance worker; any combination of education, training, and experience which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties and responsibilities as described may be considered (or) three years as Maintenance II worker.
- Significant knowledge in the use and care of all tools and equipment used in performing duties is essential.
- Ability to respond to after-hours emergency maintenance calls, as needed.
- Willingness to accept supervision and learn methods of performing maintenance tasks.
- Local travel is required; A current Clean and Valid New York State Driver's License (actively licensed at least one year) - is required*
- Ability to understand emotionally disturbed children, tolerate frustration of children upsetting already cleaned or repaired areas.
- Ability to safe-guard confidential information.
- Must be willing and able to work in close proximity with the clients we serve.
- Qualities of positivity, flexibility and adaptability; A professional record of integrity, proven reliability and dependability.
- Ability to pass extensive pre-employment background check requirements, including fingerprinting
* Staff in driving positions must be able to meet the agency's minimum requirements of our insurance policy for authorized drivers including, but not limited to, the minimum age of 21 at time of hire, with the ability to maintain insurability throughout employment.
