Position Overview:

The Maintenance III
position is responsible for performing all maintenance tasks to improve the physical appearance, function, and operation of agency buildings, property and equipment. This individual must demonstrate the knowledge and application of commonly-used concepts, practices, and safety procedures in the areas of plumbing, carpentry, painting, plastering, electrical, grounds keeping, pest management and vehicle servicing. Works under minimal supervision of the maintenance supervisor (or supervisor designee) while also relying on experience and judgement to organize and complete tasks.

Position Requirements:

  • High School/GED equivalent is required and least five years’ experience as a maintenance worker; any combination of education, training, and experience which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties and responsibilities as described may be considered (or) three years as Maintenance II worker.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in the safe use and care of facility tools and equipment.
  • Availability for after-hours emergency maintenance calls as needed.
  • Openness to supervision, training, and learning new maintenance techniques.
  • Valid, clean NYS Driver’s License (held for 1+ years) and ability to complete local travel.
  • High patience, emotional resilience, and comfort working around children with emotional/behavioral needs.
  • Strict adherence to confidentiality standards.
  • Excellent track record of reliability, integrity, positive attitude, and flexibility.

* Staff in driving positions must be able to meet the agency’s minimum requirements of our insurance policy for authorized drivers including, but not limited to, the minimum age of 21 at time of hire, with the ability to maintain insurability throughout employment.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Performing general and extensive maintenance (cleaning, painting, repair work) of agency buildings and grounds to include but is not limited to:

  • Making minor and major carpentry, electrical, mechanical and plumbing repairs.
  • Assists with the renovation/remodeling of buildings.
  • Obtaining estimates for supplies, materials and repairs.
  • Safely uses hand tools, power tools, gas powered equipment and other equipment to make minor and major repairs, to maintain grounds and properties.
